Remember to buy some Ferrero Rocher and brussel sprouts.
1) Boil Brussels sprouts
2) Eat Ferrero Rocher whilst sprouts are cooking
3) Save wrappers
4) Melt chocolate whilst sprouts are cooling
5) Roll sprouts in melted chocolate
6) Wrap chocolate covered sprouts in Ferrero Rocher wrappers

I prefer to drink 4 pints of guinness and eat 6 bags of dry roasted the night before. After a few hours I can make my own.

I like Halloween, but I'm American (boo, hiss, etc.). I don't know why people here haven't adopted a useful custom: you put out a jack o'lantern if you have sweets and you want visits by kids. If you don't have sweets ("candy", sigh), you don't put out any decorations and the kids (mostly) don't bother coming to the door. Even more useful, a teenager steals your pumpkin at the end of the night (and chucks it at a car, or whatever) so you don't have to dispose of the rotting carcass.
The customs (dressing up, begging, bobbing for apples, etc.) are mostly Irish/Welch, descended from a Celtic harvest festival or somesuch according to Wikipedia, and imported with the poor and huddled masses to the U.S. around the time of the potato famine.
As for the Christian link, there are few if any distinctly Christian holidays. All of them have been borrowed/re-purposed from pagan festivals. That's how the missionaries worked.
