Where do you get your news from?

BBC? I used to like the BBC but feel like they are just another face of the "popular" media. Whilst not being as biased as some other privately owned news corporations, they ignore the same things.

Russia Today is better but looking for more with a good rep. The Guardian is the best UK paper IMO although I don't buy anything, I just look at their site.

Reddit, BBC & Twitter.

Twitter is very, very useful for finding out news as quickly as possible if you follow news agencies. I follow the BBC on there as well as Al Jazeera and probably others.

Whatever news channel is running in a restaurant or bar, or the information screens on the subway.

To expand a little on my previous post.

If i hear/read/see something that is being reported as news, and it either seems important or interesting, i will hunt about on the internet for more info and piece together the real story from several sources.

BBC News on my phone, usually.

I don't pay it a huge amount of attention, but I do like to have a rough idea of what's going on.

Since I got my Nexus 7 - Google Currents. It offers a reasonable mix of content which you can choose by topic instead of overloading you with sensationalist trash.

As Ste said above, Sickipedia is a great source of news.
Often, whilst I'm browsing the jokes, I will stumble across a joke about a current newsworthy subject before it has even featured on any of the mainstream media outlets.
Sickipedia for the win Thumbs Up

Used to read a paper (remember those), specifically the Independent. Topped it up with umpteen RSS feeds (again, remember them).
But at the start of 2011 I realised that I was sad and angry about shit that I couldn't or wouldn't do anything about.

Stopped paying attention to any news. News - stuff written by people with agenda's about stuff that is mostly agenda based, created by the Ministry of Vested Interests.

Ignorance is bliss. Particularly when the things you are ignorant of are just somebody else's BS agenda.

Twitter.

XKCD worked out a while back that it's technically possible that you'll find out about an earthquake >=100km away on Twitter before the shockwaves physically reach you.

If I'm anywhere near a shop around lunchtime I'll read The i, it's 20p and proper news with relatively slow, albeit lefty, bias in a format you can read in 30 minutes. The concise crossword is also good.

Otherwise it's BBC news on my phone and Reuters on Twitter. And Sickipedia.

BBC news & Forums Thumbs Up
Alot of breaking news is covered on forums & the discussion is always interesting. You'll get raw videos & pictures on forums aswell, angles that mainstream media sources cannot touch. That helicopter crash in Lobdon being a good example, plenty of alternative videos & pictures.
Besides ... BBC is hardly gonna cover a new Sex Tape Laughing

BBC news website and app. This particular medium is probably the least biassed of mainstream news outlets and is certainly less biassed than newspapers.

Lots of people tell me they are anti Labour and anti Conservative and anti Lib dem and anti Gay and anti religion etc etc.

I don't see that, I see a pretty well balanced news outlet with sensibly moderated comments.

+1

News is totally and utterly pointless. It's designed to scare monger and make you consume.

"End of the world storm Jude is going to hit the UK hard". People spend like no tomorrow and what did we have? Little bit of a breeze.

Perfect example last winter when it snowed a little bit.. News goes on about Snowmageddon... people go wild...

I went to the shop to pick up some milk, and the crazy people had bought everything...

I took a picture as it made me laugh:

Laughing People are dumb.

Nothing positive can come from reading the news or watching it. I'll find out eventually if something bad is happening.

Local BBC radio in the morning. Between 6 & 9 they don't play music (Simply Red) so I can tolerate it.

The BBC/mainstream 'he says, she says' style on TV does my head in.

Yesterday's newpapers are just as good for my cockatiel to shit on as today's, so I pick up the odd discarded one Smile

Radio 4 in the mornings, sometimes catch the news at 9 or 10 in the evening on the tv.

Used to read the FT, which seemed to pack in more detail and a lot less sensationalism than any other paper.
