Can someone tell me if the word polysemantic could be used to define the word 'silent' in the following poem extract:

He took me on long silent walks
In country lanes when young
He knew the name of ev'ry bird
But not the song it sung

The poet is writing about his deaf father who is now dead just for a little context.

I have googled for information but my brain is a bit frazzled at the moment and I am getting confused.

Ta muchly for any help.

I don't think it can, it's more of an inferred second meaning implied by the word rather than a strict second meaning such as 'right' means correct and opposite to left at the same time, silent just means no sound. Maybe a duality or dichotomy?

I'm no poet and I'm rubbish at English though Laughing

Ok, well I used the word so fingers crossed Mr. Green

Tbourner: I checked out your words but they seemed to be even less relevant Laughing

He took me on long silent walks, I was bored to fucking tears
Down country lanes where young and bold rode durt-bikes without fear.
He knew the name of every bird, he was such a philandering cunt.
It was his policeman's outfit he wore whilst pulling stunts.

Yeah, for sure.

Also could apply to 'bird', if you're being a bit Russell Brand.

I would question 'sung', mind...
