Looking at selling my Transit van.

It's a 2002, 100bhp panel van. Fully ply-lined in the back, has the LX extras (Fog lights, electric windows etc).

Literally just had:

New LUK Clutch
New LUK Slave Cylinder
New N/s/r wheel bearing
New O/S/R mirror unit
Full major service
Water pump

All the above was carried out, and the van has not covered any miles at all since (Literally been pulled in and out of the workshop a few times).

12 months MOT, with a near enough clean sheet. Just a few advisories on light corrosion around the rear towbar (Typical Ford).

Any advice on what it would sell for?

115k miles

Ben

Before I saw the picture, the first number that came into my head was 2k, but that's maybe a bit mean.

It's not everyone's favourite colour and I think 3k is a touch strong for a private sale, but 2 1/2 could make you laugh.

Interesting. I'd of been happy to see it go for £1500. Razz

Will get the rest of the body work spruced up with the spinner, throw a bit of plastic renovator on the bumpers, and stick her up for 2.5k ONO. Thumbs Up

This van is actually up for sale now if anyone is interested.
Need it gone pretty quickly though as I have no space for it, and have a hell of a lot on ATM.

Will take an offer on it.

I hope you actually replaced the mirror and didn't just use MS paint to fix it... Laughing

I would have said £1-1.5K depends on how quick you want rid of it.

I think LUK and Schroeder (or whoever they are) are one and the same bunch of cunts.

There are only them who make the flywheels for the European manufacturers.

I know coz I had a long winded discussion with them when I was forced to replace a flywheel on a car. I have NEVER had to replace a flywheel. That was like.... Your chimney is worn we'll need to knock down your house and rebuild it. Fannys.

It does have a brand new O/S mirror assembly. Thumbs Up

And I've always used LUK, on all of my vehicles. Never had a problem fitting them through work either, used to fit 3 clutches a day at my last place, and 90% of the time it was LUK we used.

Clutch has a 2 year guarantee on it. Thumbs Up

Tell me a good make of clutch then?

And explain to me why so many manufacturers use LUK as OEM fitment?

LUK, Valeo and Sachs are the 3 brands which are commonly used as first choice OEM fitment.

I wish I had a spare £1500, I'd love a van. Will show it to my Dad, see if he is interested. Then I can 'borrow' it Laughing

I say none of them are any good.
Since we have all heard of DMF failure at 'early' miles (80000-100000) where older cars would run waaaaaay past that and still not ever need a new flywheel. (Unless some fukwit has been riding the clutch all it's life and mangled the face.)
My BMW had 93k on and needed a £1700 dealer repair (but I got a local to do for £500) Summing up the DMF system makes a £3000 car with 100k miles worth £2000.

Anyway fcuk the clutch, how are you going to cart your bikes around now? Sad

It's Solid flywheel, I put the clutch in it last week. Re-faced the flywheel while I was in there.

Got all the sign writing off the van today, and took it for a wash (After photo was taken).

It's damn good on Diesel for it's size! Impressed!

Really in two minds what to do now, I quite enjoy driving the Tranny...

Chucked a set of M+S Tyres on it too, just in case I've still got it when it snows.

Spent about 4 hours on it today. Pulled all the plastic steps out in the front, ground all the rust out (Yes there was more), repaired it all, and undersealed the steps inside and out.

Pulled all the wafty raking out of the back, took the mesh bulkhead thing out from behind the drivers seat, Washed and cleaned it all, inside and out.
Just need to spin it up with the G3 tomorrow after work.

As I was taking pictures, a lad stopped and asked if it was for sale. He was quite interested at my price of £1800, so it may well sell for that.

Van is now all TAX'd, MOT'd and Insured in my name now. I've got a sole traders policy too, so I am covered to not only carry all my own tools, but I have trailer, and content cover too.

Am happy to do a bit of man-and-van with this thing. I'm off to collect a car dolly next week too, so can do some car recovery, and a bit of buying/selling cars.
