Not scary. Not ridden it, been along it in the car when it was full of tourists.

Only in pitch black with a crap headlight or in bad snow are the peaks scary otherwise nope.

It does have some nice corners on it, nothing special about it but still like it as it's local to me and has provided entertainment in my driving and riding.

It's not a road that you can safely ride fast. Water runoff from the hills. Areas of broken tarmac (some recent resurfacing was overdue) Busy route for buses and HGVs and motorcyclists on the wrong side of the road.

Last time I went there the road was blocked by a crashed cyclist.
It's difficult to believe that people still travel to ride it. There are better roads in Derbyshire.

Wales and Scotland have roads that make that list pretty obsolete.

A5004 From Whaley Bridge to Buxton, Derbyshire

A54 From Congleton, Cheshire, to Buxton, Derbyshire Possibly the worst road surface in the area...add tractors to the list of regular road users.

people forget about things like big sheep who have a tendency to wander a lot on the cat and fiddle. Likewise up here we have the lecht, brilliant on a sportsbike but scarey on a cruiser especially if you sometimes forget you spent your prior time on a sportsbike oh and theres sheep on that too and deer

Only just up the road from me so head up quite a bit, but dont find it scary at all. Had a twitchy bum moment when a sheep was on the wrong side of the fence once but thats about it.

A5004 is much better in my opinion, plus no speed traps.
