Probably been linked before but actually quite interesting and better than the rest of the ideas I've seen so far. Awesome site as well.

If I wanted a helmet that lets me see behind me, I'd get a Reevu.

Do not want a HUD, and using a lid as a mobile phone - dear lord, "sending text messages" - might be fine for 5 million mile long arrow straight Yank Interstates, but would be suicidally cretinous in the UK.

Another stupid idea came across this forum... Rolling Eyes

Many people can't ride even in normal lids, do you really think that another/more distraction is what they need?
I can imagine those ''target fixation'' people would go right out off the road because something popped out in front of their eyes during cornering.

Personally that is what I though about the Rider scan you could say it has the same case. However how many deaths have you heard of that have been partially/caused because of it.

Seeing how the government is going over safety and other peoples feelings I can see something like this coming into effect in the next 10 years easily.

I had to google it, because I've never heard of the ,,Rider scan'', is that it: https://www.righttoride.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/001ScreenHunter.jpg

If so, then it is not the same thing as the lid, is it? You do not interact with it and it is not a source of light right in front of your eye ball.

Yes that is the rider scan, what I'm on about is it's still the same as a distraction could easily appear in the mirror. You could class it as a distraction on it's own as you would have to look down to see it on most bikes.

As always on here, fix the issues with current helmets such as fogging up and general fitting with glasses/other special requirements before adding some TRON level shit to it.

I can see your point, but I still think the lid would be worse.
Let's say the rearview mirror/camera is alright, but there are other functions of the lid that make me think. It's just a small step to the moment, when people will browse the internet or play games ''in their lids'' while riding.
Just look at how many car accident happned just because the driver had to light up his cigar, change the radio station or cd, text to his mate that he's gonna be late and so on.

Hmm also saw this helmet on their website seems like the perfect helmet for people who wear glasses. Not sure if it really is the case though.

Yeah, I can see your point.
However as it is to be honest it seems like it's a fear of the unknown unless it's actually fully on the market and people are using it then we won't know how bad/good they are.

As with checking your dials, or doing shoulder checks. The R-scan is a tool, much like a mirror in a car. If you cant ride without being distracted by it then you should reconsider operating any vehicle.

That helmet though could be good but has potential flaws as highlighted in other posts.

My caberg carbon v2x helmet has little indents designed for glasses, which have found work very well. Smile

I've had to cut my Nitro carbon and my Spada Sting to fit my glasses. Both are £100-£200 lids.

My £10 lid and my £60 lid fit my head, glasses and earphones properly Laughing

thats me had my reevu for over 2 months now , i ride my bikes almost every day all year round .

i've got a car that i hardly use , i noticed the other day in the car that it took a shade longer to use the rear view mirror than it does to use the mirror in my helmet .

just because i have a reevu it doesn't mean i've stopped using the bikes mirrors although i do use the helmets mirror more .

i've never heard of anyone crashing there car due to it being fitted with a rear view mirror on its windscreen !

the most money i've been happy spending on a helmet in the past is £100 - £150 .

my flip front reevu cost me £300 + a bit more for a black visor & i consider it money well spent .

i will never go back to buying a normal helmet again i don't think .

Not all glasses wearers can wear contacts easily.

I have a pretty bad astigmatism (eyes aren't perfectly round, more 'rugby ball' shaped) as a result I'd need special weighted contact lenses that can't spin around. They aren't very comfortable, and are VERY expensive, as I need a new prescription every 12 months, they become very cost prohibitive.

Back on topic, a lady in California was ticketed whilst Wearing Google glasses - If that trend continues, surely HUD helmets would be next for the chop?

I don't like how they're handling their own whole system as well as the helmet - they're maintaining their records of navigation, voices, connectivity.. I'd prefer my smart phone (tried, tested, mostly accurate as maps are provided from global leaders in the map game) to handle all that, and the helmet to just focus on relaying that information reliably.
