hi been for a nice trip out today to matlock and round
we pulled in to petrol station and i put front brake in to stop andi dropped the bike and got by ankle stuck underneath

it feels ok but when i calmed down and went back on the roadi have completely lost my confidense
its a new bike and so for i have loved it but now its knocked me back
can you help
lucky i only scratched handlebar end and lever

Could've been a diesel spillage in the petrol station that you didn't see. Get back on the bike and carry on riding and the confidence will come back, it's the only way.

Sounds like you hit patch of fuel and went down Thumbs DownSad .best thing you can do is just ride you'll soon get it all back.being a new bike as well maybe ride round a quiet car park getting used to the way it brakes and handles.new bike probably has sharp brakes to..

Tip 1: Be very careful at petrol stations. The ground is usually covered in Diesel which is slippery as hell to ride over, and if it's a wet day it will be like an ice rink. A handful of front brake is not the best way to come to a stop on a forecourt for that reason.

Tip 2: Get straight back on. Don't worry about it. You weren't injured, and the bike wasn't badly damaged. If you get back on and carry on, hopefully you will get your confidence back quickly. Now you've learnt a lesson on a forecourt, you'll know what to do in the future and you probably won't come off in a garage again.

I lost confidence in my bike after a puncture. I kept thinking I'd get another one and I wouldn't be so lucky. All forgotten now. Ride! Ride your confidence back!

thanks for your replys i have abs so that helps now i can forget about locking it up after now i understand how and what the abs does

I'd say if you're engaging the ABS on a garage forecourt then you're going too quickly.

I try and let the bike roll to a stop by itself with a bit of back brake as, if it slides it should only do so momentarily in a straight line.

At low speed I use the back brake exclusively. It's how I was taught and I've seen nothing to make me think any different. It's habit now. Every traffic light, parking, petrol stations etc.

Front brake until you get under 10 mph for me.

Nasty, I assume the knock must have broken your shift key and your spell checker, I hate it when that happens.
