Do you guys have any tips to stop my visor from fogging up.

I was out riding pillion, visor down and it fogged right up. Then I remembered it had vents, opened them up, no difference, still foggy. So I had to ride with it fully open with the wind and rain blowing in my face. Still fun though.

What works best, breath deflectors, anti fog spray, fog insert?

i had a breath deflector in an old lid, worked a treat, but wears out the lining of the lid making it all fuzzy, which im not willing to do on an arai, also occasionally hurts taking lid off

suffered up till now, but just bought an oxford fog insert thing, havent installed it yet tho Rolling Eyes

I just lift it about 0.5mm which is just enough to clear the fog but still stops me getting wind blasted.

Breath deflectors might work, but they poke in your eyes when you take the helmet off. If you wear glasses, they tend to make them fog up instead. Anti-fog spray will work, but will stop working within an hour or few of application. It is apparently excellent for glasses however, needing reapplication every few weeks.

The best anti-fog device by far and away is the Fog City visor insert. Not ever have I experienced any fogging of my visor or it since I have had it fitted, and it only costs <£15. Fog City (or equivalent, some helmets have anti-fog inserts fitted as standard), is the way to go.

Currently I don't use anything, but after the joys of sleet and snow in my face at 100mph a couple of weeks ago I'm going to get a breath deflector. I'm getting a new lid for Christmas (Shark RSF2i Matrix white red and black one www.shark-helmets.com) and the visor is treated. I don't know how well this treatment works but Mrs Mantzy has a shark helmet and she doesn't seem to suffer fogging as much as I do in my current Caberg one. Can't get a visor insert for it as I'm planning on getting a photochromatic insert instead.

I normally lift up my visor slightly and it reduces the fog, sometimes only works round edges but not in the middle strangely. Then it sometimes works the otherway round.

Hey Mantzy, get the right one and they work as both! Smile

At the moment I have a Fog City insert which has worked really well so far, only used the helmet twice so far though so I don't know how long it'll last and also if you have glasses make sure they are quite warm before putting them on and don't open the visor outside.

I did use a breath deflector in my old helmet but ended up useless because it just steams up my glasses and deflects all the wind into my eyes Sad

I would definitely have a Fog City insert on my visor. They work really well Thumbs Up I have the hyper optic one and I definitely recommend it. I bought a breath deflector once too but I didn't like it. It made it difficult to breath and the metal clip thing at the nose bit scrapped my face to blazes when I was taking my lid off. Thumbs Down

The other day I heard a rattleing on my bike, pulled over to have a look what it was and I saw the chain was loose. (One of those jobs I was meaning to do) So I moved it just to check how loose it was. Anyways got back on and on my way home the visor start to steam up so I wiped it. "Whats the black smear on my visor."
I try wiping it some more, then realising I was spreading the oil off my glove onto the visor Mad I want a fog insert now Razz

Foggy breath deflector does the job and adds a bit of warmth in the cold. I reckon they look cool as well.

I use a breath deflector (foggy mask) mainly to stop my filtrum from crusting up in the cold Wink
BUT they do stop the visor foging up to a certain extent... erm, When it does fog up, I just crack it open 1 notch and thats enough to clear it instantly...

IMV the fog city inserts are amongst the best options. Last winter I used one all through it and can't remember any fogging at all. Much better to ride in winter with the visor down due to the cold and rain etc. I've just bought a Shoei Raid helmet with a spare visor one for winter with a fog city insert and the other for summer with no insert in it.

I had a Foggy in my AGV helmet and it worked a treat. My Arai never fogs up so no need for a Foggy now.

They cost about £12 and you can get them from Hein Gericke.

the only thing that works effectively all the time is double glazing

I have had endless lids and visors which varied from utter crap to ok(ish) when it was cold and damp outside

it's near impossible to apply any kind of gel or stuff without it smearing somewhere

I have not tried a Fog City but my latest Shoei came with a pinlock visor which does pretty much the same thing and I have never ever had an issue with it, it mists up solid round the edges and the bit covered by the insert is as clear as glass - always

on a lighter note, I ran at Elvington early this year with a Roof Diversion and Black visor, early in the morning I just launched and tucked in when the visor fogged completely - of course I was in teh bubble so no moving air to clear it - I opened the visor a crack which lost me some speed but let some air in

I crossed the line at 172 mph with tears in me eyes

next meeting I tried one of those dopey Foggy masks which was fine until I started moving and the helmet pressed against my face, forming a perfect AIRTIGHT seal around my nose and mouth - I had to hold my breath for the whole 30 odd second run - I was seeing stars as crossed the line - at over 190mph Laughing Laughing Laughing

Rub some washing up liquid into your visor! Just a few drops...rub it in with a tea towel or somethin, until its clear. If it doesent clear, use a dry tea towel or somethin else, and rub it til its clear. It lasts a couple of weeks and is free. Leaves a nice smell in your lid too Very Happy
