I'd say it was whatever you and your neighbour can see as reasonable.

The labour could be first rent payment perhaps

I pay £44 quid a month its about the same area you describe
but you may want to take into account the savings for him if he paid a site to pitch on
but if you can get a few bucks beer money out of it and there is no hassle on either side I'd say a mutual agreement on say a 6 month trial to see how it works out

I'm going to be paying approx £100 PA for a space in a secure compound for my caravan (about 27ft long) which is covered by CCTV and security fencing etc. if the prices near you are anywhere near that, your neighbours expectations on price could be quite low.

That said, the more local council compound charge £450 PA.

Perhaps it is worth doing a bit of research to see what it would cost him elsewhere, and then pitch a price below that? That way he saves money and you make some Thumbs Up

Also, what sort of timeline is it? And what sort of van?

If it's a smart looking split screen VW for a few months, cool.
If it's some big white panel heap of motorhome from the 1980's and he wants to lay it up for the next ten years, er.....

I would steer clear - can of worms. Playing devils advocate, for instance what if a tile falls off your roof onto his van for instance?

Surely he thought of where to keep van before he bought it?

You'd have to pay me £5k a month to tolerate having a decrepit Talbot Rambler parked up a few feet from my lounge window 24/7. And you'd have to give me a set of keys so I could move it when I needed to. Unlikely that a neighbour and I would ever reach an agreement in such a situation.

Depends what your own "price" is I guess.

It'll be a paltry amount, for which it isn't worth having an immovable large object on your property.

Thanks for the replies. Yes i will stipulate short term, i'd rather not get involved but I need all the pennies I can scrape right now.
I'm doing it more to be neighbourly tbh. Theyre good people, feed my cat when I go away etc. so I kind of owe him a favour. I think he just wants it handy while he fixes up any issues, then he will have to park it at work. I'll suggest £ 10 a week and he can help me fix my roof as well or take it elsewhere.

Sounds right to me that. Couple of beers on a friday and an extra neighbourly hand to fix the roof Smile

You'll suggest that price at his own risk and get that confirmed in writing or in front of a witness, right? Wink

Assuming it's not for ever, and he's happy it's at his own risk, how about for free?
He's a good neighbour, feeds your cat, gives you a hand here and there, seems fair to me.
It could come to the stage where he thinks its fair if you pay him for his help, and then it would go round in ever decreasing circles.
Think how much he could say he's saving you. A person to feed the Moggy, paying a labourer a real wage etc...

No Breaking bad, well unless Priscilla also cooks meth from an RV.

Depends very much on the location - centre of a town is obviously going to be 'worth' more.

Also, if it's just a case that it is road legal but he wants to sorn it, then he's presumably going to want a reasonable chunk less than tax would cost.
