Let off with a fine and 6 points after being clocked at 108. Her excuse?

"I thought as it was a hire car it couldn't go above 90".

I despair.

Good on her for trying everything at her disposal to get out of a ban. I know I would.

If she were on a motorcycle she would be in prison. The double standards here stink.

Done more than that and got away with it, maybe because even the copper was surprised a french diesel shitbox could go that fast Laughing

Still, fine + 6 points is a far whack to someone, this guy did 82 in a 50, got 6 points and £1300 fine near me.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/fast-foodie-masterchef-presenter-fined-for-speeding-8223408.html

I do laugh when I realise I've been very lucky and these overpaid wangs get shafted whilst I walked free, twice Laughing

True, just smacks of one rule for one, and one for another.

110 mph wheelie man was a 20 month ban, and a 12 week suspended setence + fine + community service. Although it was on one wheel. Thinking

In the same position I would use any excuse to get out of a ban.

to be honest i think i would be more than pissed off getting 6 points and a fine for 108mph, i do more than that all the time, in fact i usually sit at about 100mph if not more whenever im on a motorway or dual carriage way, and i cant even count the times i have maxed my bike out since getting it.

I also know someone who got pulled at over 100mph and was told by the police man 'we arent bothered about bikes going up to about 120mph, but beyond that you're going a bit quick.' And the person who said this is not really one to make stuff up, must have been the best possible policeman to be pulled over by. Laughing

What is it with the 'victim' surcharge when there does not appear to be any victim? Confused

Unless you consider society to be the victim, in which case how do I go about claiming my share?

On topic I doubt a non-celebrity does not appears on TV Joe Public, even if he needed to drive for his/her job depended on it, would have got off with points and a fine for more than 100mph. Wonder if the magistrate(s) got an autographed picture?

I think the real crime is that she calls herself an actress.

I smell sarcasm.

Bikers get dry pumped and sent to gaol. Motorists get a fine and points.

I believe this is now routine. I've never heard of any victim ever seeing a slice of it, but I know a guy who knows a guy who had to pay a £15 surcharge for the "victims" of him leaving his bin out for too long, when he was taken to court for that mockery of an offence.

It's been around for ages and there doesn't have to be a victim.

Indeed; I'm sure people on here have got similar for similar.
And been let off for more.

Do think they should have thrown the book at her for her excuse however!

There was that guy recently that got done for 110 on a bike and got a custodial sentence?

He was probably an ugly fuker who the nice policeman didn't fancy.

That is all fair. Thumbs Up

Would that be the one who was doing it on one wheel overtaking a car and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving - who also I don't think had particularly good legal representation?
Also, it was a suspended sentence.

To be honest I think I would be more pissed off with the fact that I was completely oblivious of the position of my right foot and inability to notice the difference between 108mph and 70mph. Let alone all the 'slow' BMW's and Audi's in the left hand lane doing a ton themselves, with trees whizzing y etc etc.

At least (if/when) I do break the speed limit I am conscious of it and am paying attention to what is going on around me.

I think the "bikes always get it worst" is a 50/50 argument. If the copper has a bike himself, it'll be a slap on the wrist.
