Anyone have any idea of some good videos or books to improve ones motorcycling skills both on the road and track, I'm pretty timid on a motorcycle and definitely a beginner although I've been riding for a while.

I'm not looking for extreme advanced track racing stuff although that may help.

P.S. Also no Keith Code "Twist of the wrist", I don't want to support a Scientologist or the cult of Scientology or someone who thinks heroine is better than prozac.

Damn. Didn't know he was.

Err, download his stuff from a torrent, then? Sadly, it's still relevant regardless.

Also, they still prescribe heroin in plenty of cases. Right drug for the right situation.

Yes but not in the form of heroine which is basically a recreational and dangerous drug, thats what Code was talking about.

Ok thanks, any other ones than "twist a wrist"?

I don't think it matters as to what Keith Code's religious beliefs are, nor what is opinions on drugs are. What matters is that his DVD is pretty good and it does explain in easy to understand terms what happens when you make particular control inputs on a motorcycle.

It also explains the survival reactions and why they are bad, and which techniques to use to improve your riding. It's a bit 'noddy' but I really like it, and it's the closest thing to doing the California Superbike school without actually having to pay the money.

All in French, but illustrates some key bits about cornering and also quite funny.

I think it does matter, Scientology is not a real religion its a cult, and he uses plenty of what is called "tech" in Scientology throughout his literature.

What makes a real religion a 'real religion'?
Just seems that of the many nasty cults out there, this one is particularly bad.

Got any examples of this 'tech' and why it doesn't help the teaching?

I didn't entirely like all the methods etc, but they seemed 'American' rather than anything else.

The difference between religions and cults are the amount of people that follow it. Scientologists are no better, or worse than any of the other crap people worship.

What they believe has no real bearing on their work, it's either good, or bad.

Well I'm afraid then you have very little knowledge of Scientology it is a dangerous cult. It has caused the deaths and suicides of many people, and completely destroyed hundreds of lives, practices brain washing, child enslavement and forced labour, solely in the name of money making it is a multi billion organisation. It uses stolen ideas from Hinduism / Buddhism and psychiatry to make a pseudo science which is the catch that gets people hooked.

Read about how many people have had their families and lives ruined by this cruel institution.

Disconnection, Fair game and other insidious policies, Hubbards own son witnessed his father reveling in the works of Alastair Crawley, Black Magic and Satanism, he believed himself to be Satan incarnate and practiced soul cracking and other sick practices such as orgies designed to destroy a young female acolytes soul.

So whether you are religious or not you can believe what you like fact is Scientology is cruel and Satanic if there is such a thing as the devil.

I refuse to support such a cult or anyone connected to it.

Then think of torrenting it as stealing from him, and then seed it after to make it easier for others to 'steal' from him too. Better? Wink

What if the only surgeon in the world who could save your 3 year old daughter was a scientologist, who wasn't preaching to you, simply offering (selling) his skills and knowledge to acheive a task, which in this scenario is your daughter surviving.

Let's say I'm a Neo Nazi. I'm selling the best exhaust systems that give you 30BHP extra, the best MotoGP sound experience, light weight and only cost 100 quid? I'm probably going to use the money to fund skinhead rallies, but is that really your concern?

Do you avoid using anything made in sweatshops, and only where there is no slave labour in any of the production chain? Do you only eat fair trade chocolate?

If the best happens to be a little skewed in their views, (and not even in a way that affects you) does it change their skill level? If a serial killer who raped and murdered 30 kids came up with a cure for cancer, would we be morally wrong to use it, based on his behaviour outside of the specific thing we want to use?

Anyway, for road use, the updated police riders handbook, or DSA advanced rider one I found to be very useful. It's not as dayglow as you'd expect.

Surely nicking his videos is more damaging to him than ignoring them?

TOTW2 is good, can't say I noticed any pseudo-religious nonsense last time I watched it but I'll be looking out for it next time.

+1 to police riders handbook, although the system does seem a bit convoluted at times.

Sounds like a lot of main stream religions.

(I've no doubt that on average it's a fair bit more evil, however.)

But I'm still not seeing why you wouldn't at least steal download it.

I watched TOTW2 about 3 months after I got my first big bike. My riding improved dramatically overnight. Your call.

Yes, because religion has done nothing but good things. Never a reported death due to religion, eh? Wink

Ayrton Senna was a devout catholic, and I'm an atheist. Does that mean I would have said no to some driving lessons from him? No way!

Think it was eventually found as a mechanical failure after a load of other cock ups with new rules and electronics all playing into the incident.
