So you're going to do something you want to do and like doing (as in riding bikes) and want people to effectively pay you for doing it? Confused

Plus you're not really pushing the boundaries there are you?* Confused
It's all a bit Ewan and Charley with full support team isn't it?**

I'd be happy to donate to NABD (I know nothing of the other one) but then I would anyhow without feeling chugged into it.

BTW sounds to me like that mileage counts as a normal work job for the likes of Marmalade Wink

Best of luck on your jolly Thumbs Up

* Google maps tells me it can be done in just over 20 hours avoiding motorways (see options, avoid highways and tolls). So inside 24 would be hard but achievable. However, I understand if your mommies will not let you stay out late past your bedtime. Laughing

** why not do it on BMW GS bikes and get full coverage in RiDE magazine. See the Farewell to Ride magazine thread for the joke and irony in that comment Wink

You might want to find yourself some of this https://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g378/swmpy50/muc-off-wet-lube_zps5d63d6ae.jpg

I suspect that its only that there seems to be some mention of NADB thats preventing you getting this...

Outriders? Support crew? Nearly a year of planning? For tooling around the UK in summer?

https://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l5n4xvAHKE1qb1rwho1_500.png

It's not remotely interesting, and if you find going for a jolly challenging, well, super for you, but what's that to me?

I quite like NABD, but I don't see any connection between you spunking £££s on fuel and expenses having a laugh, and me putting my hand in my pocket.

Try again.

It's also on the Ratticus 125 Rally Club website at https://www.ratticusrc.tk...

Oh dear!...from that site
Ratticus RC site wrote:
...
Day 1...601 miles from the Start/Finish point to Lands End Visitors Centre, and returning as far as Swindon...
Day 2...698 mile ride...
Day 3...565 miles....

...Participants will also be eligible for the Iron Butt Association's Saddlesore/Iron Butt awards....

Yet the Iron Butts UK site only acknowledges 1000miles (or 1600Km) done in 24 hours (that's the basic easy one). None of the 3 legs suggested are near those figures. Confused Rolling Eyes

So (well) planned route = fail!

I rode to Istanbul and back over a month on a 125 last year with no support vehicles. Can I get some money now?

I just don't see the challenge. A 125 is a motorbike that can do 60mph for hours and hours at a time, they're usually reliable and simple to fix if there are any issues, long ranges on the fuel tanks etc... Small displacement doesn't equate to challenging at all.

I hope you have a great time etc but still...

That's great for you lot, and what difference does it make if we enjoy doing it?

The challenge is that for half of these guys, its their first major rides. And as for the not getting the saddlesore - the ride nearly does it twice technically. 1000 Miles in 24hours on a 125 is more of a challenge then I expect you all imagine.

I'm disappointed to know that these are the kind of "bikers" that are in the world today. Back when I was younger I woulda supported new riders in this adventure of theres. Now, I'm taking part in it.

The reason for the outriders, support and abundance of planning, is that we'd rather not be sat at the side of the road with someone who's having issues with their bike.

Don't worry though, I shan't be posting on here again - y'all seem to be dicks in my opinion, so you'll be glad to hear; I shall le jog on Smile

You need to make it more challenging or it`s just a ride out .

Did you have a dozen or so other 125's with you? Did you have to account for their speeds and time travelling? Is your bike chinese?

Not at all. Of course we all enjoy riding, and of course we're doing something we want to do...who would do something they don't wanna do? I'll give youa clue - No-one.

And of course we're not getting paid for it. The monies go entirely to NABD and the Wheelbase motor project.

The pushing of the boundaries comes from using bikes that have (at best) a top speed of 100mph, and at worst so far 55mph. And seeing as we're riding as 1 group, we all ride at 55mph. We're not ALL doing it on 125's, there's an RXS100 and a 70cc scooter in the group already. The support van is for carrying tools and camping gear as well as picking up any bike that's toasted, and the outrider is my mate on his 400 who will be with us purely to stay with someone if they break down.

map wrote:

As may be the case - I presume they're a courier. In which case, they're not doing it on a 125 I'll bet!

I understand that you lot don't seem to be interested, so I won't bother posting about it in here again. I really am disappointed at some of your attitudes towards other 2 wheelers trying to get together to raise some money for something good - no matter how we do it. I genuinely hope you all never need to use NABD.
