What the hell is it for? Speeding?

I would write back:

There's no way you could read my number plate as it's not correctly displayed Wink

Ask to see the evidence - then argue that you can't see it well enough to believe it's your 'plate.
I bet they fiddled with it to make it legible.

Well according to your Facebook post, you already sent it back without payment due to the 14 day rule, and the 'how did I know who was riding it 5 months ago' line was someone else idea was it not? Twisted Evil

How do they have evidence that you were the driver? Have they got a picture of your face?

Well, they're saying it fails to conform to regs rather than not being legible, I bet the picture they have is rubbish though and needed some guesswork.

From the photo you'll be able to see the leathers and helmet of the rider which should help you identify yourself. Wink

It popped up on that 2 wheels Tarmac terrorist Facebook page and I remembered seeing that number plate on here. Smile then BOOM mindfuck.

If you actually want advice, don't give half the story.

They've given themselves just enough time to start a prosecution. How's your tolerance for risk?

Actually they haven't, And how how have I only given half a story? I loan my bike out all the time. Can you tell me exactly what you were doing at 16:56 on the 11/2/2001?

Quote:
It appears they are aware they are running out of time and they are trying to get you to pay up. If you have never named yourself as the driver, it's likely they don't actually have anything that would stand up in court with regards to the identity of driver, and they are just taking a punt.

If they had served you a S172 notice and then you waited the full 28 days before replying, any CoFP offer taht followed would time out. I'd be tempted to ignore the request to pay up and see what happens.

Yes.

If you are using UK format for that date then it was a Sunday so I was more than likely getting ready for dinner with my parents (the wife and I usually had Sunday dinner with parents and hers were away).

If US format then it was Friday - at that time I would have been finishing a cup of tea, putting on bike clothes and heading toward the door to leave work.

But even so it's hardly a fair comparison, that date is 12+1/2 years ago, not 5 months.

I was purchasing homecured bacon, some potatoes and half a bag of coal from a small filling station just outside Llanidloes in Mid Wales prior to fording a small river to spend the night in a bothy.

Glad you asked.

I beg to differ, a very good bovine friend says you had your arm up her ass at that time Dance!
