Hello, I was involved in a motorbike accident, long story short, I can keep the bike for the exact amount off £88. Now I don't know whether to keep it to sell or just get the insurance to take it away. The damage:

- Bent front fork
- Twisted forks
- Dinted fuel tank (purely cosmetic)
- Scratch to front nose fairing (purely cosmetic)
- Controls work fine (indicators, lights, horn, etc)
- Not sure if engine will start?!
- Smashed front mudguard
- Left mirror/ Hand controls need replacing
- Left bar end scuffed (cosmetic)

Anyways! will I be better off keeping it and flogging it on ebay or should I take the £88 and run!? the bike is on a 62 plate (less than a year old).

Thanks for any advice.

Smile

Keep it, bodge it back together fix it and run it into the ground, then ebay it for 88quid plus what it cost you to 'fix'.

£88, I'm sure if you can be bothered to strip it down you will get more than that for it.

Otherwise, unless you are happy with a pile of grubby bike bits in your kitchen/garden - don't bother.

I'd price up the forks, mudguard, mirror (universal is fine) and hand controls. Forget everything else, just give it some spit and polish. That's a couple of hours of work to swap over. There's no reason the engine shouldn't be fine.

You'd be hard pressed to lose money on it unless the parts are astronomical.

As long as the clutch works to be honest I'd turn it on and make sure the engine works first. That way you know if you are throwing good money after bad.

Then change the forks and get a cheap set of mirrors if you need them. Also change the mudguard depending how bad it is I can't remember from if I've seen an image of it.

Personally for a long shot I'd see if there was any better forks that you could put on the bike whilst you are at it. Might be able get them off another model cheaper.

Keeo it, Stick a cheap GPS tracker on it and park it outside with no security. Let local bike thieving arsewipes steal it then have the local plod bust there trackie bottomed arses. Seriously thats what I would do if I had a spare 125 thats worth nothing hanging around.

Engine must be worth £100 and probably fits a lot of other bikes.

If the bike has been over, the motor will be a bitch to refire. Just keep cranking it and it should come back to life.
