hi ppl,

just got home and have seen that someone has had the cover off my bike to have a good look to maybe see if its worth stealing. i know this because i have a cover that goes over both wheels and around the pegs (underneath) and really tight so isn't wind blowing it off.

now was wondering what is a good alarm (only motion) and takes its own batteries, i know this sounds cheap but the bike is right outside my house and oxford chained to a massive security gate thing (around 2 thick bars)

what can you reccomend? ta

A big f*ck off rabid dog chained to it. That should keep any potential thieves away. Twisted Evil

You can get bicycle alarms from Maplin/Halfords that take a square 9v battery, are motion sensitive and really loud. About £15 and a decent stop-gap measure - just make sure you place them somewhere they can't be seen (like under the cover), cos the obvious trick is to stick your hand over it to muffle it.

is it worth getting an extra oxford chain and lock to make it hard for the f*ckers? is it also worth gutting them also if i see them messing with it, or just handcuff the bastard/s to the security gate i have where i live, naked? Twisted Evil

Well, if you actually want to take the law into your own hands, then DON'T make a noise when you see them. If you shout at them, theres a 99.9% chance that they'll run off and probably not learn from the situation.

However, a quick swift kick to the knackers may make them think twice.

Personal attack alarms are good as well, tie the strap around the front or back wheel.

You can get disc locks off ebay for £5 - buy three of them.

The sight will be disheartening for an attacker (they each take 5 minutes to remove?)

Takes me about 12 seconds to remove all three of mine.

i was gonna mount it behind the side fairing totally out of sight, and extend the key switch somewhere where i can reset it, but obviously well out of the way, hidden. Thumbs Up

make yourself a nice little ramp, and store it in your house at your front door. then watch the lil fecks try n steal it then, if they want it bad enough to break into your house you'll hear them. then u can release fluffy the killer dog on them.

Or get lots of disc locks, lots of chains and chain it to every thing in sight. lots of alarms. go down your local hursts buy 100 of chain and some cutting instruments, buy a couple of massive heavy duty padlocks, chain it up so the wheels cant move, and chain it to everything so it cannot be lifted, then watch them try n steal it. you may want to get some cctv just so you can see the look on their faces when you they come back.

Edit: or you could get some fishing wire, tie it to the bike, bring it through your front letter box and tie it around your toe or something, not wrist because you might kill yourself) when u feel ur tow being pull off u can run downstairs and kill them.

Nah, they just smash the discs with a hammer and wheel it away. 10 seconds tops.

Know how you feel, someone did the same to my bikes last month, but cut one of the chains too, I was so paranoid I ended up moving one bike to another city, into a garage, and took the engine out of the other one and put it in the back garden (its a project bike, im not that paranoid).

I'm gonna fit a ground anchor when I move, and fit a DIY alarm when I can afford it, probably an Acumen 911 as they've got good reviews. I've a Spyball patriot waiting to be fitted, but gonna save that for a bike I'm gonna keep for a while as it's an expensive bit of kit to fit.

VERY NICE BIKE THERE MAN!

Ive got a Solarlarm alarm on my moped. Its shock sensitive and you can adjust the sensitivity level. They are £60 and you get...
Arrow The alarm unit
Arrow An orange loop which can be cut and a side stand switch to wire to (Incase they put your side stand up, the alarm goes off...)
Arrow A magnesium switch to mount level when on side stand so they cant upright the bike without setting it off...

They are PISS to fit. 2 wire to the battery and your done...

Mine is fancy tho Wink
Ive got a on/off switch so I can break the circuit so it dosent drain the battery when its in the garage...
Ive also go it wired up to my indicators and the flashing LED in my Rear light...

<|Binge|>

(Sorry for the long post)
