Hi

I'm test riding a sprint st 1050 in the morning. The bike is an 05 with 11600 miles.
1 owner,full service history.
It's priced at 4k and is in lovely nick.

The issue I have is the mileage at 11.6 it's just short of the dreaded 12k service which after reading around tonight, can be a bit pricey! It's also out of tax this month.

So I guess I'm asking would you haggle based on the above and what it's fair?

Bike is this one https://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=251349443037

Thanks

The service is about 5 to 6 hundred quid but it should have been done by now on age alone

No panniers? That's a few hundred quid off too

you can get the service done for less than 400, but on that age the brake fluid and coolant should have been changed every three years at least, and the hose(s) from the fuel rail to the tank are supposed to be changed every four years, plus the 05 can be a bit suspect on reg/rec's

The 'Big Service' is only Big coz there was a load of shite about having to drop the engine out to set the tappet clearance.

No need to as you only have to 'CHECK' and they will most likely be OK. I had the 950 and checked at 6000 and they were all still as the factory set them.

I can't say which system they have in the 1050 but the 950 had one system you could do without removing the engine and you could push the valve down with a Triumph tool and swap the shim out. My bike was the last series of the 950s which was engine out job. The bastad.

Only REAL fuking headache to look out for is the rear wheel hub chain tensioner. If it is seized which they all do it's a £300 job to repair. But dead easy to do yourself if you buy the big fuk-off socket for the big nut.

Apart from that they are great bikes. Some folk complain about the under-seat exhaust roasting their nut sac and arse crack in summer too.

Yeah so I bought it. The dealers are doing the 12k service and replacing the wing mirrors. Cannot wait!

Now to sell the bandit.
