Hi, I'm in the market for a vtec probably around the 03-05 year with a budget of £3500-4000. What I'd like to know is what miles are acceptable on a bike this age. Yeah it would be great if i could land a mint 1 owner full service history bike with less than 10k on the clock but in reality I'm looking at around 20k with full history. I know about the expensive 16k service and wont buy a bike over 16k unless its been done but is 20-30k a lot of miles? I've looked a 18k and a 28k from a Honda dealer and there mint but I'm a bit scared of the miles.

Any hints and tips would be most welcome

Thanks

Neil

To be fair mileage isn't a great indicator of a vehicles condition or past, check the service history, number of keepers (has it been punted around due to issues), have a good look over the bike and decide from there. I'd rather have a bike with 20k that's been looked after than one with 10k that's been thrashed/abused.

My bike that's just over 30k miles is in a much better mechanical state the one that I bought with <10k miles.

Looked after is the main thing, miles are less important.

That said, the VFR is quite a sports tourer, so it will likely have been owned by responsible owners who will have looked after it. I wouldn't even bat an eye lid to buy one with 30k, especially if it had a full service history.
