Looking to Sell my Suzuki GSR 600. Now i know winters coming up but I'm looking for a quick ish sale (next few months)

Now I have enjoyed this bike but ive decided i want something more economical and newer. So looking at the new Range of Honda 500 cc's

As the GSR is wasted on my motorway commute to work which is what my motorbike will be doing 95% of the time. And in all honesty its costing me a fortune in fuel. But anyway enough of the reasons as to why.

The bike is 2006 (06 reg~) and has done 4875 miles. MOT till feb and just had its 2nd Service. Tyres are 1000 miles old and all standard.

Now been looking at other bikes with much higer milage 9,000 plus 2006 and 2007 age and they are going for 2800 - 3500.

Now apart from a couple of scratches, one scuff from a push bike brake lever being brushed passed the bike at work Evil or Very Mad and some surface rusting on the side stand (will rub off with autosol) and the Handle bars. Its Immaculate.

Would i be asking far too much for this bike putting it at £3000 o.n.o or should i ask for more or less.

Nah not ready for selling just yet. Just after a bit of advice of a target price. Be going in the sale section in December. When i'll be off the road for 6 weeks anyway due to knee surgery.

You might get lucky but the difference between 4000 and 9000 miles won't mean much to most buyers on that type of bike. Looking on ebay there is quite a few newer models with slightly higher mileage and a slightly lower or similar price, some even at dealers.
I'd have thought £2700 if you wanted it to sell fairly quickly.
They're nice bikes, I'm not overly keen on the indicators in the tank but the swing arm is lovely on them, looks like it's from a much more expensive bike.

Will you really save that much money changing bike? surely the GSR must get 50 mpg on a run so spending an extra couple of grand is going to take a long while to recoup unless your commute is massive and you'll have a worse bike.

I'm spending about £50 a week on commuting alone. I try my best to keep it dead on 65 mph on the motorway and no more than 80 mph and i still get about 120 miles and then the fuel lights on and maybe get 15 miles more, but i have ran out after 8 miles once. Its a great bike. But just looking to cut costs. Have changed route to back roads and even then its same. Plus its just too easy to end up doing stupid speeds.

So wanting to get something slower so to speak. Basically i want the bike equivalent of a 1.4 litre small car. Where as wwhat i ride now is something like a Audi TT. Nice to look at, goes well but crap fuel economy.

I'm suprised you're finding the MPG so bad [haven't worked out the mpg you're getting] but if it seems terrible vs a smaller car something might be up. Riding reasonably my ZX6 does identical MPG to my 1L car Shocked i'd be quite suprised if its not better than an average 1.4 petrol unless the Suzuki guzzles a lot more than my Kwak for some reason Thinking

I mean if you go right down to the likes of a 125 or something its going to be a winner fuel wise in either case, but if its just little step down i'd wonder if its worth it if the running costs are a big factor.

My ZZR does 50 plus to the gallon - and that's not cruising at 65 either!
It sounds to me as if you're getting rid of much the ideal bike for what you use it for, it's big enough to 'sit' properly on the road, cruise at motorway speeds up hill and down dale but not with the inherent designed drawbacks of full on sports bikes such as riding position, running costs etc.
Just my opinion, that's all...

35mpg sounds a bit low, are you sure there isn't something wrong with it?

The Blade gets better than that and that's not doing anywhere near 65mph. Laughing
