First things first, lets make sure you have at least some cash coming in to live on for the next few weeks eh?
Just to remind you, you need to get a fit note "Statement of Fitness to Work" off either the hospital or your own GP and give it to your boss.
If you normally earn more than £109 per week you are entitled to Statutory Sick Pay from work at £86.70 per week after the first 4 days for up to 28 weeks. If you earn less than that your boss should give you the fit note back along with a form SSP1 which you should take to the DWP cos you will be able to claim Employment and Support Allowance instead.
Keep a note of any payments that are made to you (keep any payslips or DWP statements for the period) cos if you succeed in claiming for lost wages from the car driver's insurance you may have to repay any SSP paid to you by your work and you WILL have to repay any ESA if you don't qualify for SSP.
I'm sure someone with more experience than me will be able to advise better on making a claim so I'll stay away from that aspect, but I do know quite a lot about sick pay!

Relax, you're (rightfully) quids in. It just might not be immediately, is all, since you're injured.
You're a completely innocent victim, don't feel any qualms about being fully compensated for every penny of loss, direct and indirect. Make sure that you document everything, get and keep receipts for any outlays. If you have to borrow money to keep afloat, claim the interest. Even if you lose your job, don't fret, insurers have deep pockets. That's what they're there for.
I don't know if I dare say anything, as T.C still lurks here after his flounce, but consider White Dalton as your claim handler.
Just remember, its your claim, you decide who handles it, and nobody else really gives a stuff. If you're not happy with your representation, shop around and change it.
Best of luck. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Can vouch for White Dalton.........however, I've never needed to use anyone else, but they were very good when dealing with my claim. They won't take anything out of whatever you are awarded AFAIK...just claim costs from the other blokes insurer. They also got 50% of my claim upfront, took about 2 months. The rest took 18 months. I managed to get receipts/valuations for all my top of the range clobber You may want to buy the bike back for pennies, if so, just tell the assessor when he/she comes to examine your bike.
I take it this bloke's insured? ____________________ Space Is Deep |

Thanks for the help sorry I've took so long to reply. Feel a lot more relaxed now I've been involved with a car accident before when a bus practically ripped the side of my moms car off which left my neck stiff and sore for 8 months (same pain i have now ) or so and stupidly I took £1000 compensation 3 months after the accident!
So want to do it properly this time and make sure everything is how it was before the accident
Guy is insured by his pizza shop.. Yes he also works for a pizza shop (taking out the competition? ) and another witness who owns a tattoo parlour near the accident has come forward and said he saw everything and it was completely his fault, i didn't stand a chance and he was shocked I could still walk after such an impact. So he can't really worm himself out of liability.
Will ring white dalton today see what they say
Going doctor tomorrow for some stronger painkillers and for him to make sure my neck is only strained as its bloody killing. Too bad I can't claim loss of sleep, didn't sleep last night as any way position put pressure on my neck or back.
What do I note down? Would I include lack of sleep, pain medication, pain im in? Or do i just note down costs etc.
Thanks |

Keep a note of everything.
What happened, including a diagram.
What got damaged. Take photos of damage. Including yourself, the bike, your clothing.
Write down what hurts. What you've lost (time of work, missed appointments etc.)
Write down how you feel.
I went with Angel Assistance. Back then I paid £10, and they sorted out the rest...the solicitor and when it came to it a Barrister for court.
My solicitor said my written notes were so helpful, as were the photos and the diagram of what happened along with witness statements (and police reports).
Nowadays I would go direct to White Dalton - as a friend works for them and they have been recommended over and over by other bikers. ____________________ Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter won't mind - Dr. Seuss |

Sorry if I've mislead some of you, the scooter isn't in fact mine it's owned by papa johns thankfully (obviously don't want anyone's bike being wrecked but I'm obviously glad it's not mine) so I'm just added to their insurance to use their bike when working.
Thanks for all the support/help didn't have a clue myself and must admit I was panicking a bit.
Going to make a few phone calls etc tomorrow and take some photos/ write down my injuries and what happened. But will take photos now of my damaged gear.
I earn about £180 a week usually and a lot of that is rent to parents, food, transport, insurance, phone contract etc so hopefully if I can claim sick pay (not sure if my rights are different as I may be classed as casual?) just to pay for the necessities.
I can try just ring up the other party's insurance company and ask for compensation without going through claims as another poster said as ideally I need the money now but things are never that easy
Thanks |

In addition:
I had someone hit the back of my car which needed repairs but some claim monkeys sorted the repairs and hire car for me.
I still have to notify brokers of the non fault claim which some of them load by about 5% though you should be able to get loading removed if you ask the company you are insured to ride the work's bike with for a letter stating it was a Non-Fault Claim for you to copy and send to whomsoever asks for it. The claim WILL be on the insurance database so ye canny hide.
When doing an on line insurance quote application for car or bike where it asks for amount of claim damage put 0 (Zero) as this tells the quotw engine know it is non-fault. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |
