I just bought a pinlock insert for my Nitro helmet from racevisors and realised my helmet didn't come with any pins. Exclamation It has just two drilled holes with plastic bits sitting flush.

Am I supposed to buy the pins separately? Will any pins fit? Question

Yes you have to purchase them separately

No you dont.

A Nitro pinlock kit comes supplied with a little bag containing three pinlock pins. Two to replace the blanks on the lid, one spare.

I bought this and all I received was an insert with no pins, bags etc. I'll confirm with racevisors but I believe the insert comes on its own and the kit comes with pins.

Omg this thread helped me out so much! Couple of months ago I broke one of them pins. It broke but didn't fell out the hole so I assumed it was there for good. I was thinking of getting a new visor then cause pinlock was so handy but didn't wanna spend 20 quid Laughing

Good thing I took my bloody time and didn't buy new visor... Just saved my self like 17 quid as the pins are like 3 quid lol

Iain, thanks a lot for the detailed and proof-full reply. I am now well prepared for an argument with racevisors.

Hence a tip for all. When ordering from racevisors.co.uk check the package contents.

Mine didn't come with pins either, I ordered from these guys.

I suspect those are the same guys as racevisors as they are both from Guernsey.
MC - Thanks for the pins! Thumbs Up They arrived safely today.

I've installed the pinlock and tried to breath out like a dragon. I still couldn't fog the visor however hard I tried while being outside. Dance!

You can buy an insert that comes as an insert and fitting instructions. Or you can buy an insert KIT that comes as a kit with Insert, fitting instructions and Pins.

Both items same price. £17.99

Not from Nitro's UK importer you cant Wink

They only stock, and only supply them as pictured. Now assuming you were to buy a pinlock original, totally universal non Nitro branded direct from Pinlock you might possibly be able to get ahold of them without pins, but that seems like a lot of hassle to not get something you need.

But then that wouldn't be a genuine nitro pinlock would it?

Nitro themselves, supply the insert, instructions and three pins with every pinlock. No exceptions, thats how they have supplied them for the duration of 2013. Thats not to say racevisors.co.uk aren't buying them as a bulk buy of pinlock originals direct from pinlock then shifting them on at an increased margin because of it, or buying up old stock from god knows where for peanuts & flogging it on at a huge mark up.

Either way, if it's a 2013 nitro pinlock it looks like what i've pictured and it contains what i've pictured. Thumbs Up

https://www.racevisors.co.uk/product/nitro-helmet-pinlock-antifog-diy-visor-kits

Template, drill bit, pins, instructions and insert. It sez Pinlock® so it MUST be Pinlock®

https://www.racevisors.co.uk/product/nitro-pinlock-antifog-insert.

I did see Pinlock Insert and Pinlock Insert With Pins I have no need to lie or guess.

Perhaps you are looking at a different thing.
