Are Triumph a Triumph?

Doing my research on bikes to familiarise myself with whats about and seeing what people recommend and ride themselves and see a lot of hondas, kawasakis and yamahas but dont reslly see Triumph.

To me, the street triple is the perfect bike (image attached). I dont really know the ins and outs technically but the naked design is exactly what i like. Are Triumph generally any good, what are peoples thoughts?

Also like some naked harleys but the seem to get a bad rep too

Having said that, just come across the Yamaha XJ6 naked which is similar and pretty bad ass

Nothing wrong with Triumph, they have experienced something of a renaissance of late. Street Triple is a good bike.

From what i've heard (not experience) the later triumphs are just as good as the jap' bikes.

If i can afford a speed triple when i have my full license, i'll defo be considering one

I heard that a Street Triple is a good fun to ride, but if you stand next to it on a very quiet night, close your eyes and hold your breath, you can hear how it rusts. No personal experience, just passing on the legends.

Although I don't have the license or cash if I did I would have a triumph scrambler any day. Sound superb, look superb and the one that passed me was actually quite fast.

There is also the mt09 to consider now which is basically a blatant copy of Triumph's success formula but is supposed to be very good.

Yeah seen those but bit out of my price range for now.

What do people think of the similar style Harleys then? I know theyre expensive but is that why people dont like em?

Ha, you're right I think. Just naked with the sit up style. Just starting out into all this.

My point more tho was around Harleys getting a bit of a bad press on forums I have bin on and wondered why.

I have a Street triple and have ridden an mt-09.

The street triple is a fantastic bike with a really nice engine and handles very well. as someone else said take one for a spin bit be advised that you will buy one after wards there's no other option

The mt-09 is a very good bike however I would say has a bit to much power for a new rider and it would be very easy to get out of your comfort zone very quickly it is not a novice friendly as the street.

As for the street rusting they seem fine and a lot of people ride all year with no problem, I think the built quality is fine.
