I always thought 250c bikes were popular in the Japan home market.

Tyres... overkill.
Brakes, double overkill.
It's like they saw Honda and Kawasakis attempts at something slow and thought, yeah, mash them up. |

That slogan on the fairing's a bit of a boast as well. 'Semakin di depan' - 'always in the lead' in Malay.
If it's small and light enough it'd be decent in SE Asia. Plus the success of the Ninja 250 should be proof enough that displacement ain't everything.
A bit posey with the looks though, with small displacement bikes I'd still rather go for something naked, like a Duke 390. ____________________ Motorsapien Art |

I'll stick my neck out and guess it's another 25-30bhp eco-commuter wrapped in silly plastics and given a ridiculous riding position.
Sure, it'll sell for a couple of bowls of rice in Asia, but in Europe? Where we live...
17 and 18 year olds riding their YZF R125s will put posters of it on their bedroom walls and do THOSE THINGS THAT BABY JESUS CAN SEE THEM DOING late at night, but won't be able to get one.
Then they'll hit 19, do their training and test on a CB500 or NC700, and feel a bit embarrassed about spunking their pants over a 250 that will cost as much as a CBR500R.
A few geezers with Tef-legs might buy one, do their backs in trying to reach the bars, and flog them on almost unused.
It would have been a fine bike for Europe in 2008. In 2014, it's the answer to nobody's problem. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Well, there's one born every day, but the rumour mill grindings suggest that the Ninja 300 and CBR250R aren't exactly flying out of the showrooms.
The grapevine squeezings also intimate that the Inazuma 250 is selling OK though, so price might be critical.
I may have imagined or invented those anecdotal non-numbers, mind. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

IMO, a 400 (396/ 398)cc engine and close to 35kW / 46bhp is going to be the golden size, so that it's a suitable bike for A2 tests and doesn't look like too big of a step down for A2 licensees. I have no idea why KTM didn't bore another 22cc into the Duke "390" and make it an A2 test bike.
And not just something like the "Ninja 400", which is a full size and weight ER6-f sleeved down to 400cc either. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Roger, do you see uk biking future in the sellability of new machine's to be just 125cc and say 350-400cc based 46bhp circa machinery?
It looks like it could be another boring decade TBH!
The sleeved down ER6F engine would not be so bad if it were rehoused into a smaller lighter specific frame.
The Route Honda took is a poor effort design wise, but we are told we're still in recession and time of economic crisis, so manufactures will not spunk out on fancy because they can machines, so can we blame them for having a half assed attitude to new machine design/development. The trend these days is in platform sharing, and manufacturer collaborations so, bike design will go the same way.
Added to that buyer's of new bikes these days get as excited by mpg and things like ABS and trick digital displays, as they do about styling and much more than they do about performance. If a bike has USB, Bluetooth, electrical plug in accessory sockets and sat nav, hazard warning lights etc etc it's a cool bike seemingly.
The Japanese are no longer interested in the 250cc/400cc market either, so despite some people's moans, we will never ever see a new mini 400cc Fireblade etc again. |

I kind of like the looks, maybe a different front end with upside downs and a twin disc setup and then more importantly, my spare tzr250 engine bolted in with a nice set of Gibson custom spannies
I would happily thrash it around then ____________________ Yamaha TZR250 - love the smell of TTS!!!!

Haters really hate .
It`s a 250? what`s the problem with that? ...... it suits some people?
If and it`s a big if , Yamaha roll it out at a cheap enough price and it gets a few people into bikes OR keeps a few people biking , then surely it`s not such a bad thing?
It`s not a bad looker and that`s what some people want, why is that such a crime?
It looks better than the YRB 250 imho
It looks like a step up from a yz 125? and what`s so terrible about that? ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |
