Hi all

Going to the NEC Saturday and I've been many times before but this time I was going to try and get signed onto a offroad experience they do.

It's first come first serve basis, has anyone tried to book one before and had the opportunity?

Or is it one of those, sorry all gone, or too long to wait and queue as too many people already applying?

Cheers

Jeff

I'll be looking at the map and heading straight there on my day, arrive at opening time and make straight for it.

Its basically arrive bang on opening time and head straight there with your fingers crossed.

They don't have many spaces available to start with and they go within the first hour.

I wont be wasting my time with the stunt bike 'show' like last year...what a joke. Total waste of time....90% of the time was taken up with some annoying yank trying to get the crowd to cheer....saw lots of people walking out halfway through...I should have done the same!!

As far as I'm aware they book you a time slot, there's no way of prebooking it so you have to make a beeline for it as soon as the doors open. It is first come, first served.

If you don't manage to get a go, keep an eye on this for next summer: https://www.rideoffroad.co.uk/index.php ... much more of an experience than what you can get at Motorcycle Live, I had a great time.

I didnt go last year, however the year before I think it was the stunt show was awsome.

They had that steel ball (cant remember its name now) where they have 5 people inside it... now that was amazing to see in real life. Absolutely insane and worth the £5 extra alone. Although admittedly watching the guys play basketball for 15 minutes was a bit boring after the first 2 runs each... yes it displays amazing skills and is incredible - but everything has a replay limit and I think that runs dry pretty fast.

I do find it rather upsetting that your first point of call after booking something cool for yourself, was to update and tell the internet of your achievement, rather than appreciating the world around you and enjoying the excitement of what you are about to do.

As much as I am happy for you - it means no more to me than knowing that some girl I went to school with doesn't like the fact that it is raining outside. Or that someone else I used to say "hello" to around work is "unsure if this dress is OK for a party tonight", when infact she is just desperately craving other internet names to tell her that she is infact "very sexy" and lots of internet people would like to abuse her sexually.

I f*cking hate facebook and everything that it has done to the population of today. There is nothing that angers me more than the incessant cravings of attention from stupid people that have such low self esteem and life satisfaction, that they must rely on fake comments from fake people on their fake lives, to get through each day.

All that being said - nice job Thumbs Up I hope it is everything you dreamed it would be, and more.

That time of the month? Laughing .

I rarely post updates on any kind of social media - BCF really is the only place I come to share certain aspects of my life. Mainly because many of my "real life" friends wouldn't appreciate me telling them I almost came off my motorbike.

A friends sister posted on Facebook the other day her experience of a man eating an orange on a train. "Disgusting, fuck off, why would you do that, euurgh!" A bit strange, it's a man eating an orange, leave him alone! Pointless rubbish, as they say, "get a lyfe1!"

Just got back from the show and imho it wasnt as big or as good as last year. Honda only appeared to have half the amount of bikes they had last year on show and even though they had it on display, they were totally clueless about the CBR650F...didnt know a release date....cost...anything. Even more annoying they didnt have a single brochure you could take away on ANY model...you had to leave an email address and get them to send you one...piss poor Honda, sorry.

Wasnt worth the £20 entrance fee plus £8 parking imho....even the show ladies were sparse in number compared to last years show. Last year im sure there were about 6 or 7 Kawasaki 'camel toe outfit' girls..this year just a couple. Not that it matters of course but this year everything just seemed scaled down. Shame...cos it was quite busy.

Anyone else go today?

Woah that time of the month!! Ha

Just thought I'd update what I was asking about Confused

Got there thinking it opened at 9 but it was actually 10 Evil or Very Mad

Gates opened at 10 n there was quite a rush to get over there to be fair.

It was fully booked within 30-45 mins? Although you would have had to queue early, first come first serve.

So for anyone interested, get there early, it was worth it Very Happy

I agree with what your saying Method hence why I don't have Facebook, Twitter etc, I just didn't expect to get on it. Sorry for the upset!

Laughing Yeah, I half apologize for that, I stand by my point but I guess I haven't had a rant in a while Laughing

Told you the slots go early - it paid to ask before hand, just a shame you didn't ask about the opening times eh? Wink

Was it any good? Ive done a lot of off-roading in my time and always wondered if the ones they do at the NEC were worth the hype...

Yeah it was a good experience I'd say just for beginners to offroad or a refresh or just to see what the bike is like. They teach you there what to do and what not to do and improvements as it's in 2 groups of 4 of 2 sessions. If you're experienced you won't enjoy it, it's a small track, 1st-2nd gear.

I really enjoyed it because I hadn't done it in so long, started when I was 4 and went every now and again but when I started road riding 10 years ago it just stopped.

For the experience, especially being free and takes up 30 mins of your time? It's good. I want a motocross bike now!!

Here's me, on the Yamaha WR250:

https://imageshack.us/a/img547/3896/ezye.jpg

The place on the right is where you have to rush to if you want to get a place. Best entrance is 3a and it's pretty much straight from there and a bit to the right. As mentioned, you'll have to get there as it opens to get a chance.

I was there, but sacked off the off road experience. It was a pile of dirt in the corner, far smaller than last time I went on it in 2009 on the Supercross track. Picked up a helmet, some crash bungs, and got my leathers altered. Had a cheeky sit on McGuinness's TT bike.

Promo dolly quality was ok. Kawasaki, Ducati and Yamaha had the best. Razz

I got up very early to get there for opening to have a crack at it. Thumbs Down
