Evening there.
Right, if it is anything like the later NSR's and if it has a power valve then this is what you want to be looking at.
These engines essentially have a flap over the exhaust port, when the engine gets to 7,500 rpm a servo opens up this flap and you get the surge of the power band.
I know that with the JC22 (fox eye) the power valve is open from 0-2,000 rpm, closed from 2,000-7,500 and open from 7,500 +.
Because the power valve compliments the tuning of the engine, without it operating the engine will now run well. Once with electrical problems I had the power valve stuck closed and indeed idle became poor/lumpy and anything over 7,500 was uneventful.
Shamelessly plagiarized from another website as its late and i'm off to bed but good advice
| Quote: | download https://www.geneva-ra...ins/NSRtips.doc (look the correct move of servo)
first of all with multipliers catch the servo pulley and check if it turns (it's a bit hard due to the reductor inside)
then check the noise made by the servo when you turn the key on
if nothing happens (you need a multimeter):
- open the little square box on the left of the tray (where the servo is fixed)
- see the 3 wires connector with red/white,black,green
- set your multimeter up to 20 VDC and with key on plug on black & green ,should have 12VDC
if no voltage you surely have a problem at your key
if OK , unplug the servo and :
- use 2 wild wires connected on the battery poles and with the end touch briefly white and black/white (servo must move), reverse ends and test again (must move reverse way)
if nothing happens , the servo is worn
do that and report |

My TZR had similar issues, turned out the oil pump was shot. ____________________ 'Allo! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!
