Hey all, just got a 200 chinese engine that has the same mounting points as the CG engine so it just bolts right in. I was wondering though, other than the CDI will everything else work with the bike. Such as the coil, voltage regulator? I understand the connections will almost certainly be different but is it just the CDI I need to purchase? My CG its points.

Cheers.

Hi mate, please can you tell me how much your Chinq 200cc engine was and where you got it from? Was it a new motor?

I'm thinking of doing something similar with my Kawasaki KMX200 if I can get a cheap new air cooled 4t motor such as a CG/DR clone engine for less than fully re-building the 2stroke I took out of it.

My old KMX will be a fun off roader, and so it probably doesn't need more than 15bhp?

It would help to say make and model. 'Chinese' and '200' don't really cut it.

Why, on Gods clean earth, would you want to put a shitty chinese 4T engine rather than fixing the wild 2T that comes as standard?

Cos, I'm a lazy boy! Laughing

I keep avoiding pricing up how much it would cost to get all the bits, and services done to repair my existing engine, and just suppose I did re-build it, then:
1, It would have to go into my shiny KMX125 sunny days bike

2, I'd massively blow my non existent budget and want lots of tuning work, special exhaust and ignition etc. No 200cc is worth ££££'s

And also because I'm far more hard about building a nice clean rolling chassis for it over the winter with cheap pattern parts, than I am about building engines. You don't get as much shiny stuff for your money with an engine as you do with cycle parts! Laughing

Sorry I forgot to mention that it is a 163 FML, an XL200 clone as far as I know. I got the engine off of ebay, brand new but just sat in a garage for several years. You can get similar engines off of gumtree for like 50 or 100 pounds if that (dependent on conditions and the seller) but brand new there just over 400! I payed 180 which I think is a resonable price for a brand new unit.

I would just rebuild your 200 engine, thats what I want to move onto in the future, a 200 2t enduro, they looks super light and fun!

Yes it will and yes you can run the same CDI, plug and play. I have a 156FMI sat on the bench waiting for a water cooled top end and the listings on Taobao have 125, 150, 175 and 200cc options in the listings for top end parts, bottom end listings are pretty much all the same as they're all based on the same bottom end.

I'm a moron and missed the part about your CG being points as I still have a bit of a hang over. You'll need a Chinese 125/200 loom and CDI and they should be only be a few quid from Ebay.
