anyone else had a call of the "autotrader" asking you to join their VIP club?

the only way i could get rid of them was to say i don't own a car any more (we do)

i dunno what it is/ was but sounded pricey

I bet they call you back next week telling you that you've won the Nigerian lottery.

What, they hacked your phone so that you couldn't hang up? The fiends! Shocked

Unsolicited callers get 5 seconds to convince me not to hang up. If I'm feeling frisky though, I will agree to handle their call for £35 for the first five minutes, and £5 a minute thereafter. Please provide payment details if you agree to these charges.

What are you wearing?
Are they red?
Do you like being rubbed with goose fat?
Do you like toys in bed?

I ask for them to hold for a second, then put the phone next to laptop playing Cotton Eye Joe on repeat, to see how long they last.

If legit, perhaps an attempt by them to shuffle into the more posher buyers market - ''oh you like ferrari's do you sir, well we will inform you first as a prestigious ferrari owner when we have one for sale - join the club''

I did wonder a few months back why they'd added a 'prestige cars' section when you could previously find all the same cars on the normal search form.

Now it links to
https://www.topmarques.co.uk/
Which still seems like autotrader, but only searches for expensive cars

Whiff of arrogance about it Thinking

And can do it more effectively if you don't take up any of their time.

It's crueller to keep them talking out of a misplaced sense of politeness. You fiend.

You do of course by spinning it out, you are shitting up their sales figures.

So by hanging up, they can move onto the next mug... You sir just waste their time Laughing

I used to do phone work and I always preferred a good, honest Hangup, rather than some twat getting all bald about his phone... just put the fucker down then, I can't hang up on you otherwise some knob will come and tell me off. So, I will have to patiently check my phone or carry on with my crossword or put you on silent while I talk to someone whilst you get yourself worked up.

Never used to mind the ones who just walked off, it used to give a few minutes breathing space. Some people would stay on the line though and then go for their breaks and shit so they blocked the line.

I'll do the odd market research thing and have switched energy supplier a couple of times, I always give them a fair hearing. Unless it's one of those American sounding asians selling something I don't really understand, they get the hangup. Can't be arsed with that shit.

Do you want them to call? Are they taking up your time selling you something you don't want?

Then hang up, they are the rude ones, they have a job being rude to people, phoning you to get money out of you for something you don't want.

They usually get 'Get my fu*king number off this fu*king list you cnut' 'click' brrrrrrr

No guilt.
