Been quoting on gocompare and found some interesting results.

Hayabusa TPFT - £1700
Hayabusa FC - £860
Ducati Desmocedicci RR TPFT - £460

If I were to pass a driving test and drive a Ford KA... £735 TPFT. The car quote is without the 5 years no claims but I obviously still have my road experience. These are the cheapest quotes from gocompare based on my data.

If I were to pass my test, would I be able to add the car to my current insurance AND have it benefit from the 5 years NCD? Just curious as I have no intention of driving round in a box (let alone a KA!)

You pay for something that you have to have, you can't use it and if you do you pay more for using it.

You can only have no claims on one vehicle so people keep telling me, which sucks balls. Evil or Very Mad
How the fuck can you have no claims on 'a' vehicle when its totally based on the twat driving it.

Tl;Dr
Insurers are cunts.

No idea either as I can insure an NR750, with a £50k value, for £273FC with zero no claims. To insure a 1.4 Honda Civic TPFT is over £1400 a year with one year no claims.

IIRC:

Car you are more likely to kill and or injure others and passengers.

Motorbike max one passenger and you are more likely to only kill yourself.

There was something about people with 3rd party being poorer people.

Therefore being more motivated to claim on insurance because they are poor they can't afford to insure themselves fully.

Think of the statistics too. No one crashes an NR, whereas everyone crashes a Civic, so in the insurer's eyes, they are higher risk. Wink

I know what you mean but a few have been written off. I'd say a higher percentage of NR750s built have been written off when compared to the Civic. It could be the money they pay out against that model rather than percentages.

I did once have to change my address half way through a policy. I moved from an SO173 postcode to an SO171 postcode and they wanted more money, claiming it was a higher risk, despite it being a lower risk. They then kicked me in the balls by telling me they don't calculate risk based on the second part of the postcode, only the first. And it increased my premium if I said it was parked in the garage rather than on the drive.

.

It's not based on percent of models left, since that's irrelevant to the insurer. Merely how much each model has cost them. 2 NRs written off, or 200,000 Civics?

Insurance works thus. A shower of fucking parasites take your money and give you nothing whatsoever in return. How much money they take is up to you and the choices you make. But you will always end up out of pocket.

buying insurance is like paying protection money so you don't get 8 points on your licence and a £200 fine for not having any, which also gives them the excuse to load the policy 50% for not buying it the first time

Understanding insurance is like understanding how vehicles can't blatantly see you when they pull out.

It's all based on statistics. The less likely you are to cost them money (potentially tens of millions), the cheaper your premium will be.

One litre cars cost lots to insure because they're typical first cars driven and crashed by 17 year olds. Whereas if you get a bigger engined car that is more suited to middle aged or old aged people then your insurance will be less expensive. This could be a 1.4 or a 1.6 engine or you could opt for a four or five litre old Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes, or suchlike.

The value of the vehicle you're driving or riding has got little to do with it. It's all about how much damage you could do to others.

you can build NCB on more than one vehicle, however they have to be separate policies and the ncb will remain separate, cannot be combined Thumbs Up
