I'm wanting a supermoto, but want to be able to use it on some green lanes too and get a bit muddy. I want it to be fun, hard to control etc but it must be reliable as I'm pretty lazy with maintainance.

The only road riding it would really get is up to 10 miles at a time, country/town roads so not going to need triple figures.

Budget not too much of an issue but I want something that I can piss around on and will likely get dropped.

Thought of a drz400, will it be ok offroad though? Just seen this too https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Husqvarna-610-Supermoto-/161162773255?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item25860cc307

Any input appreciated...

Thumbs Up

Personally I would go for the husky, better suspension, similar weight, more power, and supposedly just as reliable, although having not ridden either I can't really comment.

Just for mud I would suggest a 250, my TTR has plenty of power to get me in trouble in the mud, on road it still can get me told off by the policemans, and the knobblies will still sometimes kick out under power on tarmac, and it's only 24hp uncorked maximum, I reckon.

For more road stuff, I would suggest a bigger bike, mine runs out of puff at about 55mph, not leaving a lot left for overtaking or if I need a sudden burst of power for some reason, and being a trail bike, the brakes aren't really good enough to pull me up if I need it, so mostly I ride it on the road with a bit of caution.

Thanks.

Just realised the Husky is kick start only - not sure I could be arsed with that.

I'd like to be able to do 80ish tbh, but not be too heavy in mud. Am I asking for the impossible? Laughing

Drz is good enough. I have an e model with a set of sm wheels for the road does 80mph but 65 is more comfortable.

On the lanes I have no trouble keeping up with my mates on ktm's sometimes the ktm does better sometimes the drz does. Everyone calls it the tractor cos its big slow n heavy but it gets everywhere the small stuff does!

As for the husky being as reliable from my experience that isn't the case, ive seen drz's with 50,000 on the clock still going strong, and Ive owned and ridden with huskys that are in major engine rebuild territory well before 10,000.

DRZ is good, set of supermoto wheels and off road ones and 3,000 mile services as per owners manual. Husky's and KTMs require considerably more attention but will be lighter, faster and more focused.
