You'll need a 90 degree bend for that valve type by the sound of it.
Presumably that's the only tube type they had in stock.

I sometimes wonder why motorcycle wheel valves are designed to be incompatible with 99% of petrol station air compressor lances.

I just bend the air hose end slightly. Three shallow bends spaced an inch apart doesn't kink the metal pipe and gets you a nice curve.

You'll have a tube in the tire and they mostly come with metal threaded valves. Get a 90 degree extension thing for topping up in the future. Makes life a whole lot easier Smile
