Just wanted to say hi to you guys and gals as just joined the site.
44 year old virgin biker 
Been meaning to get a bike for 20 years but always been some obstacle.
Passed CBT in Spetember alongwith theory.
Bought myself a CBF125 to learn on with the hope of doing DAS in the spring.
So far so good and enjoying the new experiences.
Roll on spring and being able to get onto a bigger bike.

Same situation as me with the same plan. Difference is I passed my CBT in July, been riding my CBF125 daily almost.
I recently gave in to temptation though and am currently doing my DAS. Had 2 MOD 1 lessons and test is booked for 19th Dec.
The difference between a 125 and a 600 is unreal. The bigger bikes are so much easier to ride and the difference in power is something you have to experience to understand.
Just take the plunge and start working on your DAS (finance permitting of course) as it's quieter this time of year.

Ahoy.
Got plenty of ACF-50 on that CBF? Really, do keep an eye on it.
125s are a laugh, but having wasted plenty of time on a tiddler, fun as it was, I do assure you that you're doing it the hard way.
There's little point in delaying getting your tests out of the way, and it doesn't mean that you have to jump straight on a litre bike. You just lose the L plates and get access to a much wider range of machines.

This is more or less exactly what I did. For me it was all good, and I'd do it the same way again. I personally don't find bigger bikes easier *or* harder to ride. Just different. In some situations I find tiddlers easier, in others bigger bikes. It'll all depend on what you want from a bike, where and when you ride it, and your expectations more generally. Also, I rode a 125 through autumn an winter last year and weather-proofed it with wax-oyl and old fashioned grease. I found those preferable to acf50 because it was easier to keep an eye on how much covering was still there, weeks later. I also think those more old-fashioned products are a bit cheaper over the course of several months.

Having fun at the mo on the 125.
Unfortunately don't have the time to do the lessons so will wait til spring
Looking forward to getting on a bigger bike.
The bike is getting acf50 on it's next clean.  |
