I love tea. A nice strong cup of black tea sets me up for the day especially in the winter.
Now normally I just use whatever is on offer at the supermarket but today I used a loose leaf darjeeling. My god it was good.

Does anyone on here use loose leaf, or can recommend me a reeeeeally good tea bag?

Can't stand tea myself, but always have tea bags in the unlikely event I have visitors Laughing

I do like a nice strong coffee though, 2 tea spoons of coffee per mug.... and I find it slightly upsetting when someone a) can't be bothered to have coffee in the first place, b) give you a CUP of coffee c) gives you mug of coffee which looks and tastes like dish water Evil or Very Mad

You won't believe me. But go into a local starbucks and buy a bag of their English Breakfast, it is absolutely sensational and aromatic for a bagged tea.

My standard protocol is a Twinings Everyday though.

As far as teabags go they have been the best I've tried yet. Great flavour, it's a blend, basically your standard tea. Only nicer. It's loose leaf inside the bag rather than powder, the bags are a substantial mesh rather than the paper type stuff.

However, they aren't cheap around £4 for 15 bags from the local supermarket! Or £10 for the 50 pack in the picture on the interwebs Shocked

My favourite loose tea is Georgian Old Gentleman - grown in Georgia (Not USA - between Turkey and Russia). Absolutely cracking and fairly priced to boot. Black with a couple sugars and you're off.

As far as loose leaf tea goes:

Assam TGFOP (too good for ordinary people). It's a whole leaf tea, among the best grades of tea you can buy. It's a lovely bold and refreshing brew. A little malty, but sensuously smooth. This is my "cup of tea moment" tea. For when I sit down with nothing to do and reflect on life.

Ceylon - Dimbula B.O.P. A broken leaf grade, grown at the correct altitude for the tea to be at it's best. This is my "everyday" loose leaf tea. A lovely well rounded cup that makes you feel like all is right with the world.

For bags:

I pretty much swap and change depending on what's on offer. A lot of the supermarket own brand stuff makes a decent cup if treated right. Asda's own brand and co-op "99" are my favourites of the unbranded. Having said that, I tend to go two rungs up on the tea-bag ladder (stepping over the PG, Tetley, typhoo) and go for the yorkshires/twinings/clippers etc.

Drink a fair amount of Pai Mu Dan (known through other names).

It's high in L-Theanine, which boosts dopamine and takes the jitters out of the effects of caffeine while maintaining the "ready for anything".
I would have killed before now had it now been for this tea.

For Black Tea, Yunnan Gold Tipped.

Neither are the most expensive, but hit the spot nicely.

Is anyone else really picky about their water supply? My own home has decent water, yet I'll go to down the road to the missus' mums and it's far superior. Likewise with work, building 1 the water is far better than at 2, even though it's quite literally a 30 second walk away.
