Maybe from watching too much south park.. but that was my exact out loud words spoken as my back end swung this way and that over the ice patch where i had previously been sitting at 50.

Back end doing an arc of about two yards left and right with me bouncing around on the seat (and onto tank at one point, ouch it hurt! Shocked ) and the wheel making huge big noises.

My only thoughts 'I so cant afford this...'

About 10 yards gone and the back ends still at it... bike suddenly regrips and thinks about trying to throw me over as one last ditch attempt to shake me...

But luckily at about the 8 yard mark i remembered reading about highsides on BCF and kept it at the back of my mind while trying to fight the f**ker back into a straight line...

And i stayed on. Granted when it was over i stopped, lay down on my tank and felt like i had died... but i still wasnt picking myself up from the road!

Not sure how i let it take my by suprise so much, i blame a cager not turning his full beams off as he passed in the dark, blinding me long enough to not see the shiny tarmac, but maybe i wasnt paying enough attention.

So anyways. a big Thumbs Up to whoever it was who explained Highsides to me, and a big BE CAREFUL to everyone else out there who cant afford repairs if they crash their bikes!

nice one for staying on

had a few beers and just wondered if putting the end of your boots under the pegs would stop the b*****d from pitching you off

Indeed, congratulations for holding onto it Thumbs Up I can verify, highsides are NOT pleasant.

Go and have a G&T to calm yourself down. Very Happy

Well done Thumbs Up.

Kicking my foot down has saved a few front wheel slides (some at rather hiegh speeds Confused), don't think it would help so much with rear end slides.

At this time of year with the roads as they are at the moment you've really got to ride like the next patch of tarmac might be very slippery... Something I've ignored and suffered because of before.

Done an done.

Never crawled home so slowly after that, could have gotten off an kissed the ground.

I am still questioning whether it was ice or oil/diesel or something.. because its not actually that cold out (was about 3-4 degree's when this happened).

Still... bloody scary. One NOT to tell the parents.

Dont think it would tony, probably just tip the bike over more (since your force of being flung off tranferred to the bike... tipping it further) so you wouldnt be flung off but would fall over.

Saying that though... don't lose /all/ your confidence Smile.

I usually find I'm a bit worse and tend to panic more if I'm too worried about stuff like that.

Thumbs Up

Yeah i thought about that when i got home,

'will i be too scared to go out on it?'

Then i remembered the first thing i said when i ditched my Gilera (after the exhaust fell off an jammed back wheel!!!)

'How long will repairing it take?'

I think it'll be a 'take it easy for a few days' job... then back to normal maybe a bit more wise to the world.

Its good to have events like this, if you dont you will get over confident and when you do f*ck up it will be big time.
