Is adventuring on an adventure even bike still legal?

The last 2 weekends i've gone onto Salisbury plain adventuring, today, easter bunny joined me.

A few hours adventuring and a stop for a brew and bacon sandwiches and head in a direction to find a road before it gets too dark.

pics from last week.

It was 2 packs of sainsburys unsmoked lardons, cooked to perfection on a camping stove, put lovingly into a crusty roll/cob/bap (depending on your location) added brown sauce and a shake of black pepper, devoured while kind of lost on salisbury plain and washed down with a hot cup of coffee. Thumbs Up

Not really - because if you don't know where you're going you're probably not riding illegally Smile.

I was going to suggest you try the 'tank trials' section on the EXC paddy, but seeing as that was the first time I'd ever broken a bone in over a quarter of century, err, it may not be for you! Razz
(To be fair, I'd had four hour sleeps and it was the end of the day with me getting faster and faster.)

We only saw tone of these signs when we EXITED the field Korn was leaving us through at 11pm this kinda time of year Smile. Think there was a 'keep out' too.

I heard some bikes on the plain and wondered who it might be, probably you! If I can find a bike, I'll join you.

We went to the tank trials bit but it was proper muddy and wet so didn't have a play. It was first mud for easter bunny and i've got road orientated tyres on the bike and not keen on falling off so didn't have a play.

As long as the weather isn't too horrific i'm up for it all the time, it rained a fair bit today, hence the cooking lunch under trees.

I'm in Larkhill for the next 3 years, so even after the winter. Being so close to the plain is good also as I can get pure off road tyres without having to ride for miles on the road to get places.

Yes.

This is where to go. The steep chalk tracks at the bottom right of that screen are interesting.

I've done similar terrain on those tyres, but on a fair bit lighter bike.
Probably did crash; but then you are SUPPOSED to crash when riding off road Smile.

I do try not to crash at all times.

I'm trying to get a set of wheels at less than silly money so I can put more suitable tyres on for going over the plain.
It would definately be better, lighter but the XR250 just didn't feel right for me.

I've got some air on the transalp but it's not nice.

This here where the green arrow is, is where we stopped for lunch, not far at all from the tank area.

What "didn't feel right" about the XR?
Have you ridden much off road before?

I did find 'proper' dirt bikes took some getting used to; but an XR250 with dirt tyres (if you've still got it) is ideal for Salisbury plain, I would say.

I had a good day, Marmalde is kind not to mention the lack of true dirty ness in todays pics was due to it being my first mud ( except for a little school boy off roading nearly 30 years ago ) and being a bit more reluctant than most to get wet as it would probably mean returning my Prosthesis for some water damage repairs, not to mention a 100 mile ride home in the wet in December.
I was impressed how well the Alp copes with road tyres off road which may increase by adventureness next time, the only thing that topped this was Marmaldes ability to dig out a field kitchen outta his panniers.
