Hello folks.

I ride a Suzuki gsxf 600 and the front brakes are sticking (having it sorted this week), would this account for the 'heavy' feeling when turning or could there be something else behind it?

Or is it purely a bike with a heavy front end?
It's the '98 teapot jelly mould model.

Thanks peeps.

Never ridden a gsxf600, but a heavy front end is usually a sign of fork seals going or low tyre pressure

headstock bearings too tight or need replacing, leading to a notch in the middle, easist do diagnose would be to jack the front up by the engine then move the bars lock to lock. are they stiff? is there a noticable notch in the middle?

Check your tyre pressure.

I'd have thunk the sticking brakes could be the cause before you go looking at other things.

When you use the front brake, the front gets loaded. I'd expect a bike to be fairly unsettled if the front brakes are permanently applied.

Sticking front brake makes the bike feel like it's going on a rail through corners.

What bikes have you ridden previously? When you change do a different style bike they can feel like this until you become accustomed to it.

Tire pressures are fine.
Spent some time riding a 600 bandit but this is my first proper bike.
Brakes are getting stripped down on Tuesday I'll get the forks n stuff checked over.

My mate rides an old fireblade and reckons it feels heavy as well.

Guess we'll see when the brakes are sorted.

Cheers folks.

I'd definitely look at the head bearings ... if they are notched, needing greased or are too tight then that's the feeling you'd get.

Hope you get it sorted Smile

All the best ... Barry

Brakes have been sorted and she rides so much better now.
Turns out I do have slightly leaky fork seals though.

I can ride with a bit more confidence now Smile
