IMO theres no point trying to increase it a few mph. You need to spend a lot of money on expensive parts and in the end it will only reach 55 - 60 mph (max) if that!.

I reckon the terminal velocity of a moped should be at least 100 mph.

All you need to do is find a high enough cliff. Wink

Arrow Take a load of laxitives and let them take effect before going on your ped.
Arrow Call the AA and then they'll put it on the back of one of their lorries which will do more than 40mph.
Arrow Throw it off a cliff, the bigger the cliff the better.
Arrow Go parachuting with it.

Dont use performance pipes on 50's.. every 'performance' 50 pipe I have seen doesnt have enough back pressure, which is what a little 50 needs. Use hi octane fuel, with fuel additives for 2 strokes, like the PowerPill which gave a 5bhp power increase on an RGV250 2 stroke,

Or, buy a performance 50cc racing piston, and an expensive spark plug to get more RPM. Try stay away from exhausts. Especially on 2 strokes. The Japanese know what they are doing when it comes to that kind of thing.. if it would be faster with a sports pipe, theyd give it a sports pipe Wink

Its a question that gets asked probably once a day, when i had my 125 i looked for ages to find a way of makeing it go that bit faster..

I got an indicated 76mph on the cg once, it was horrific, hard to keep it in a straight line, i'm sure parts were rattleing off, and if i'd had to stop fast, well i'd be deader than a very dead thing.

One thing is that 50cc scooters are only designed to go 50ish mph max, after which the handleing will get bloody scarey, things will want to fall off, you will want to jump off! even if you manage to hold on you engine will go bang quite bit earlyer...

All i'm saying is if you push something past its intended performance spec things start going bang, falling off or failing early.

Put it another way, new rollers and a race pipe and filter + rejet dyno? will cost more than £200... a friend of mine just brought a car for £200, i could have got a taty example of my last bike for £500 and still got 120mph out of it!

Everyone has been there, i doubt anyone who had 50cc scooter thought it went fast enough after owning it a couple of weeks...

Maybe a sticky could be put up..

Question My 50cc is too slow
Arrow Wait till your 17.
Arrow Buy an nsr125.
Still too slow?
Arrow Deristrict it and hope you dont get caught.

On a slightly more helpfull note, try redexing the petrol, carbs and cyliners (cleans everything out) keep your bike in as good condition and well serviced as possible, its suppriseing how much difference a spark plug and new air filter will make...
