Is there a difference? How do you view yourself? Does it matter?
Interested to hear what y'all think.

I'm new to BCF, but I've been riding bikes for 30-odd years. But yes, you got me, bored to death Laughing

The reason I ask is that a work colleague who's been riding for probably 40 years often makes a point of insisting he's a motorcyclist, not a biker, often unprompted by me. Personally, I really just think of myself as someone who loves bikes, and always has done. I don't see why he's so bothered that he's considered one or the other.

No idea. I live and breathe bikes, always have. But a large percentage of the people who also ride bikes I view with disdain Laughing

But most are actually good people, if you ever get to talk to them.

I can't and never will understand the ridiculous modern trend for riding about in a power ranger suit. FFS, just drive a car if you're scared of getting hurt Laughing

Having said that, a fair few good mates of mine are power rangers. Which proves conclusively that they're a load of benders, and so am I. Probably Confused Wink

If by that you mean a 1 piece suit, I'm happy to be part of this "modern trend". It's so uncool to keep your skin, right? Laughing .

FFS Rolling Eyes

Do you race bikes? If not, no excuse for going around wearing two thirds of a cow. In almost thirty years, I have never lost more than a bit of elbow and knee skin - and that was in horrific crashes.

It's mostly down to luck. If your number is up, you're going to die or be paralyzed no matter what.

No, I'm a fucking biker! Erm...motorcyclist!

Have never worn leathers, except on my hands and feet. I work on the basis that Darwinian theory kicks in and sorts out the men from the boys.

The point of riding a bike used to be because if you came off, you were very likely getting horribly fucked up at the very least. These days it seems to be about staying entirely alive with all your faculties intact. What kind of nonsense is that? Shocked

You consider a 100cc bike the pinnacle of motorcycle cows - others like to go at speeds which see textiles getting 'compromised' Smile.

Anyway - 'biker' is much (ab)used. Like 'gamer', 'geek' and 'beard' are these days too.

I don't like many of the connotations others people presume when they describe themselves with it, so I don't.

Nothing wrong with minimizing those risks though. The problem is other road users, Darwinism doesn't count when you're hit from behind by a lorry. Thumbs Down .

I've been commuting on my 1200 Bandit this week, I'll have you know! One day I went 7mph over the speed limit, something the RXS hasn't managed since the early 90s Laughing

I find it hilarious when people start taking me seriously on here.

The other day I went out on my 450BHP NR1500 V24 and came off while doing 260mph at 32,000rpm and survived a head on crash with an asteroid. While wearing nothing more than a pair of Sam Fox's knickers (bought off ebay for fifty quid). Barely a mark on me, except where the elastic had dug in round me waist! Wink

Having said that, do not mock the mighty RXS, a bike which will outlast even cockroaches upon this earth Laughing

I can't take someone seriously when they believe less protection is the manlier approach. So no worries there mate.
