CCM R30 2002 Supermoto Seat height

Hi Guys,

new to this forum and read a LOT on it so far. But,
can anyone help with a method or a place I can send my seat to get it made lower.. struggling to reach the floor with ma legs to be honest.
I'm ready for all the jokes, but believe me I've heard them all!!

So, second hand seat anyone, shocker adjustment or the name of a good firm/person that will do this for me??

Do you slide yourself over when you come to a stop?

You could look to do it yourself - a knife and an ok staple gun should do it.

I got a gel pad put in which raised the seat on my KTM at a place, err, somewhere towards Portsmouth I believe. It wasn't cheap, but I rode the bike down there and they did it, let me ride around before finishing it off to make sure it was ok (I had to ride home with an old bit of seat foam strapped over it - they sent it on later.)

Forget the name as it was five years ago I'm afraid.

Collecting the bike Friday to be perfectly honest, had a test SIT on it today!

But I'll get the better of it somehow, as you say cut out some foam first to see if that helps, which it will, but it wants to look neat when fastened back together.

I've read about a shorter shocker somewhere, but can't seem to get any info now.
CCM weren't interested on the phone today when I asked them either...

I'm not sure 'CCM' is even the same company - they only seem to have one model and it uses a BMW engine.

First thing would be to setup the preload.

If you're quite light too, then it's likely set up too high.
You could consider a softer spring.

I would guess it doesn't use a linkage (the 404 doesn't); if so you would need a shorter shock.
Should be possible - my KTM300 came with one on and they use about the same WP (but I swapped it back to the normal one).
On that, it's possible I may still have that one around and would have it for sale if so - but would have to check and measure it up etc.

Should be able to make a neat enough finish as you stretch the vinyl over the seat and it's stapled inside.

Yes, Suzuki engine this is.

I will have to look at the spring yes, not ever done this before so I'll study it carefully.. and I may be short.. but probably heavier than I should be.. as the 'doctors' would say.. but I don't do doctors so I've diagnosed it myself, not maybe fat, just tooooo heavy really.

So, when I get it, I'll post a bit more on here, photo's and all and if I get a result I'll show it... you never know.. someone somewhere...

Ooo, forgot this bit.. On that, it's possible I may still have that one around and would have it for sale if so - but would have to check and measure it up etc.
I'd be interested in it, if just for an experiment.. I'll compare mine when I get it off.

They did the seat for a friend and his custom bikes and so did the seat for my Honda 750 Special.

Just really want to find a company like this that has done it before on a CCM seat, surely not that unlikely????

I very much doubt your CCM seat will be any different to many many seats they've done before.

The 404 seat is taken from an RM250 I think it was - quite likely your seat has come from another bike too.

I've looked on bay of E but can't find a second hand R30 one to 'practice' on .. if I knew which was the same ........

The technique won't be any different whatever the seat (unless you get something really weird), they're all pretty much the same.

Well,

Got It!

I have took about 3" out of the foam, probably can do more too.
It's not too uncomfortable luckily & I will spend a bit more time on it when I get chance to perfect the smoothness of the seat.
Still a bit tall for me though...

Can I wind the shocker down to bring the height down, or fit another shocker??
Clutch slips a bit.. bah! and full beam doesn't work.. bulbs OK must be wiring somewhere..

But what a BLAST this machine is!!!! Better than I was expecting, I've been out twice this weekend, got covered in crap from our 'natural' state lanes.. but both times came back with that massive 'grin'

After an XJR1300, that I wouldn't dream of taking through our lanes this weather, This R30 is probably the best bike I've had for a long long time... and I've had a few!
