Just saw this and I have to say this is how Top Gear should be! The only thing missing was May. I won't spoil it but I was a bit dissapointed by the ending[/list]

I bought it along with a load of other stuff on amazon. I know I'm probably a mug for doing it. Going to watch it tonight. Hopefully I'll agree more with rac3r than CaNsA.

I thought it was decent... It suffered a touch with May missing but other than that it was just like a long episode of Top Gear, not sure if the ending was staged or not though?

I got bored about half way through.

Definitely should have had May in it. It gets a bit tedious as it goes on.

I have to say I enjoyed 'The Worst Car In the World' a lot more. The bit with Hammond wearing an I love James May T shirt was boring and stupid. The bike bit was OK, although I doubt I'd have chosen a Diavel.

I quite enjoyed the open top rallying too, and thought that it was a shame that Hammond had to lose every challenge because of Clarkson's cheating. I guess that's where the dynamic of the three of them comes in, as May and Hammond can gang up on Clarkson.

The ending was dogshit though, and I'm actually surprised they went with that. I can only guess that it was a genuine ending and they wouldn't have left it like that had they any choice...

Although, you'd have thought that someone else could have driven them to Circuit Pau and then they could have driven around it a bit. Seems a bit contrived if that's the case.

I kinda regret spending money on it TBH, but it was a half decent diversion for an hour or so. It's basically a middling episode of TG without James May.

Oh and the fake BBC sponsorship gag has gotten really old now.

So, what are the views on the Ducati Diavel Dark?
As a naked it suited that environment.
Not sure if it'd work commuting on a day like today, Ah!, silly me, you don't commute on a bike if you own a bike like that Doh! Wink

<spoiler alert>
IMHO the ending was staged as wikipedia tells me Pau is a street circuit. So they wouldn't be able to show off like on a track.
</spoiler alert>

Thumbs Up

I'd have chosen something narrower, maybe a Ducati Hypermotard or a Streetfighter, or possibly even something Breeeteeesh, like a Street Triple R! Shocked

Maybe they got told to leave because the french police got wind that they were going to be using public roads like a race track? So maybe the ending was legit?

Jeremy Clarkson wrote an article about the French driving ban in one of the papers, pretty sure that it was legit.

Seems both have been banned from driving in Frogland.

Why? If you don't like it don't watch it. If we get them banned then we'll soon have people calling for a ban on anyone having fun with motorised vehicles including motorcycles. Best to leave them be tbh.

It was definitely missing May. Just goes to show you actually need all three of them. I would rate it as a good normal episode but not one of the specials

The new series starts in January

However, it's about a 1500 Euro fine (about £1250ish).
Wonder if that's out of their pocket? Probably put on production costs for the DVD they were making.
The ban in France was about 6 months. Not sure if they've increased that.
I'd expect folk like Marmalade who travel frequently in Johnny-Foreigner-Land will be able to say yea or nay on that.

Fail to see how using the words head and dick in the same sentence doesn't result in fun? Confused
