Hi,

I didn't know what section to post in so chose this section.

I was going to rebuild this bike, Kawasaki ZX6R 97. But it's all be becoming a bit too much.

Basically I have everything minus some small parts.

Engine on 22k miles,
Freshly sprayed frame and wheels and swingarm. New bearings throughout swingarm, wheels and headstock.

Two sets of forks. Brand new fuel exhaust in the box.

And pretty much everything else to go. I spent so much getting all the parts.

How much would I get in a joblot does everyone think?

Thanks.

Find the small parts, years tax/test and then try to sell it.

As it is now, £300.

Tax and MOT a bike which is in pieces? It will take months to build to a good standard and there is plenty of people out there who will want a project for the coming months.

Thanks Paddy for your opinion mate but anyone out there with any prices?

Could list it all. Think it needs a rear hangar, bars and indicators to finish.

Thanks.

A complete bike of that year with T and T is going to be around 800 to 1200 going by ebay/gumtree prices, in bits though like paddy says around 300 or so quid, I got an engine nothing wrong with it as a spare for my 95 F1 zx6 for 30 quid, it's worth noting also that the frame on these is a weak spot, they don't take being crashed very well, also it is not unknown for second gear to go pop due to wheelie merchants over doing it.

Methinks the OP is about to discover that a pile of parts is just a pile of parts, regardless of how much it cost him to buy them Wink

Haha, Truth is, I just don't have the time and the interest to complete it. I know it's not worth loads and loads but wont let it go for £300 haha.

Thanks.

I bought a running albeit needing some panels ZX6R G1 or G2, which is the model up from yours for £300.

I wouldn't hold out too much hope getting more than 3/400

There is a very good chance that unless you make it into a bike again then you will have a pile of bits forever, thing is buying a pile of bits that you can not hear running is a massive risk and the price reflects this.

Imagine going to view a complete running bike that is for sale and when you get there, it smokes, runs on 3 out 4 cylinders and has to be jump started, plus it jumps out of second gear, what is it worth? 300 quid tops same as your unknown quantity pile of bits.

Ebay free listing day this weekend.

You'll do much better listing for parts, but that'll be more hassle than putting it back together frankly.

Listing as one you might get lucky - you do find people that will pay more for a pile of bits than a bike in one piece, mostly because they're a bit stupid.

You'll have to start bidding at around £350 to just match the £300 offers as people may pay by paypal (about £335 for no paypal but ebay fees). Then you've got the hassle of bad feedback and the like.

If you list on eBay, could you post a link?

...Or leave it in your garage for a year or two and then I'll give you the £100 for it :p

£750?!?!?! For a pile of bits?!?!?

I haven't laughed so much for a while! The offer of £300 was overly generous for what could turn out to be a pile of scrap. If you want to make back money you'll have to part it out and wait a couple of years for somebody to buy the majority of it. Failing that, stick it up with a 99p starting bid and see where it goes.

I'm now going to continue to laugh at you for many hours to come.

Yes yes yes, I'm sure we've all seen it. But hey, at least I didn't pick up the bits of chewed up grass, spray it a bit more green and stick on ebay for £50 as fresh turf.

What parts are you actually missing ? You semi to have put a lot if effort in, waste of time if you just stop now

That pile of bits is only worth £300 max, doesn't matter what it cost you, that's what it's worth. If it was built it's only worth about £1200 so asking for £750 in a million pieces with bits missing is a joke
