How hard you pedal is up to you. If you find a ride too easy then extend it. Repeat until not too easy.

I want to go exploring like I do on my motorbike. But obviously I'd like to pedal as at a slower pace I'd take in the scenary more. Maybe do Manchester to Blackpool for charity and a few sportives. Something different from going hell for leather on amotorbike ride or going for a muddy Mtb slog across the moors.

its not that bad. Take your time and ride with a friend. Ive done the manchester 100 and the manchester to liverpool. But the rides now cost 20 instead of 10 quid they used to do. So I dont bother and just ride towards knutsford and enjoy the B roads.

Start training with a few hours ride a week atleast an hour long or more and increase from there. It'll be fine.

Sounds good just hoping the microfracture of my knee goes well then I can crack on. Gonna get a Triban 3 for now I think. But if money allows the Triban 5, or the Felt.

I did the manchester 100 on a heavy steel and it wasnt too bad. But I was pretty fit those days with cycling everyday to university and going to the gym 6 days a week.

Since then I have moved up to full carbon and even though it is light as a feather I didnt feel any less fatigued after the ride. Btw manchester to liverpool ride route says it is 50 miles, but it isnt it is about 63-4 miles. I basically swore at my legs the last few miles.

If they're on public roads, there's nothing to stop you following the same route - just may not be provided with any 'support' the people paying get (and a bit cheeky to take it anyway.)
