Following an allegation made against me some months ago in Cambridgeshire, I was offered the opportunity to avoid court proceedings if I voluntarily attended The Priory. Today is the day that I have to admit myself.
Has anybody else attended? What should I expect?
I'll be setting off soon and I may be some time.
Wish me luck.

No idea, but come back with a full report, please. I imagine it'll be like any other course, you get out what you put in.

Whatever has happened, you live and you learn and sooner than you think it'll be a memory. Dig deep and make it work, I'm sure we all wish you every success.

Anorexics, alcoholics, narcissists and B to Z list celebs, i.e. anorexic alcoholic narcissists.

You'll bond, you'll swap tips about hiding food and booze, it'll be a laugh.

This is not entirely speculative.

What can I say, things turned tough after my hair went and the work as a Ewan McGregor double dried up. Sad

Mate went in as an alcoholic for residential treatment (about 6 weeks).
He did find it pretty weird, and met some very strange people with very messed up lives. Some were okay, some were dicks. He came out with some interesting stories and said it was a bit of an eye opener. He still keeps in touch with one or two people he met there.

I've done bank-shift work for them before [not at the cambridgeshire hospital]. As a company i'd say theres a lot worse places you could get sent. You get a bit more time and space given to you compared to entirely NHS equivalents, depending a bit on the specifics of why you're going and which area you're being admitted to.

If you're in agreement you need to go in some respect you will very likely benefit from it, and if you're being 'made to go' against your will in some respect - treat it as a learning experience, you will probably be suprised how different it is to your pre-conceptions and how much you get out of it.

Don't expect it to be a stereotypical case of being ''locked up with the crazies'' either - the majority of the people in the partially privatised hospitals are very much ''normal'' in most respects and are just getting issues in themselves ironed out before returning to daily life. They don't have many long-term severe residents from my experience as they tend to get put into NHS hospitals for funded treatment in the longterm cases. Sometimes talking to people you're in there with can be as helpful as the treatment itself.

Good luck Thumbs Up

The voices in my head have started up a Barber Shop Quartet and are singing Metalica in the style of Noel Coward.

I rolled up to The Priory yesterday, as planned and it certainly was a bit of an eye-opener.
I learned a lot about myself and, as a result, I will give more consideration to other peoples' safety and well-being in the future.
Apparently, it was only by pure luck that my alleged actions in Cambridgeshire didn't result in fatalities. I hadn't appreciated how potentially dangerous my alleged actions were.
On a side note, I don't get the above references to anorexics, alcoholics, mentals etc. What's all that about?

From wiki:-

The Priory Hospital, Roehampton, often referred to by the media and others simply as The Priory is a mental health hospital with an international reputation. Located in South West London, the hospital has become best known for the treatment of celebrities with various addictions and has been described as the British equivalent of the Betty Ford Clinic in terms of its popular image. The Priory was founded in 1872 and is now part of the Priory Group, which was acquired in 2011 by an American private equity firm, Advent International.
