So I went to swap out some dead bulbs in my display clocks for the speedo and tachometer , replaced them and as only 1 of 3 was working.. after I was replacing them after minute or two, the one that was working stopped working too and one of them previously flickered, I've now just discovered before coming on my way home from work in the dark that it's stopped my tail light (and brake light) working (Usually check all my lights every time I'm out on the bike if its dark)
Everything else works, Headlight (Low & High), all 4 indicators, even the display lights for indicator Left and Right, Neutral and High beam..
The electrical diagram shows everything is connected to the R/BL and the BK/Y wires
the R/BL which head off to the ignition switch and the headlight switch (My lights are always on, can't turn them off) and that seems to be it..
BK/Y which goes to the headlight, city light, front indicators, horn button, "starter lockout switch" and something near the water temperature switch (a small circle within a circle on the diagram)
BK/Y goes to the fan switch (that still works too)
BK/Y goes to Fuel level sensor (also works)
BK/Y goes to the reg/rec
BK/Y goes to Main Fuse
BK/Y also goes to the negative terminal on the battery so that's the ground wire then.
So confused by electrics, this diagram seriously does not help either!
Gonna take it to the garage tomorrow but I'm just confused how everything else but those 3 bulbs and my tail light are working. ____________________ K8 GSXR 1000

It was just the tail light fuse had blown, why on earth is it connected to the lights that light up the speedo/tacho.. no idea! everything else on the clocks worked lol

Same with the GPZ..
It is unfortunate that that there aren't more circuits, but obviously money in production to this degree are often though as a wasted investment..
Just think from now on, that if your speedo lights aren't working, to remind yourself to check the rear lights first before replacing bulbs, as it once again could be the issue you just had, repeated. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Because that's what USED to be the sidelight circuit before they started with the headlights on all the time fuckwittery.
Back when motorcycles had headlight switches, there were three positions: off, sidelight and headlight.
With sidelight, you had a fairly dim (10W) position light in the headlamp shell but the taillight and clock backlights also came on. Next position gave you all that PLUS the headlights. Two, seperate, switched circuits. Hence two fuses.
What'll really fuck with your head is if your healight fuse blows and the main beam still comes on with the "pass" switch. That switch is, for some reason, wired on a totally seperate and entirely unfused circuit on your bike. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Tail light was working at the time, until the fuse blew after I swapped the bulbs.. but the bulbs were definitely dead or at least 2 of them were.
@Stink yeah I'm aware of the older circuits where you could turn your lights off (that was good for hiding turn lights off and cruise along clutching the engine so it was quiet lol) ____________________ K8 GSXR 1000
