my bike has been stolen!

Opened the front door ready to ride to work this morning and some thieving bastards have taken the bike.
Its a red honda cbf 125 reg KY62 MOU stolen from the selly oak area of birmingham, if anyone sees it call the police - I want it back before it turns into a pile of rust!

Indeed.. lots of stolen bikes lately. Mine is safe inside the house this winter. But then not that many get attracted to 10 year old bikes

Crap. I didn't see this bike... for some reason I was thinking that it was white... not red

But I see a ridiculous number of bikes in selly oak with poor security... including a cg using only a oxford disk lock and a cbr125 using an oxford chain...

The police have given me a crime number and put out an alert so if it passes an anpr camera it should ping up.
I don't live in selly oak, basically I was visiting my wife (were sperated but trying to sort things out) and stayed over, the bike was outside her house. Its a quiet cul de sac beginning with w, not m!

Stop making out it's the person who has had the bike stolen that is somehow wrong for not securing it.

The person who took it is wrong, even if it had been parked on the side of the road with the keys in.

If they want it, it's gone, no matter what it's secured with.

I once had someone hide themself in a corner of a locked compound (we're talking 12ft walls with razor wire on top) while it was open during the day then sit most of the night cutting through my security chain, breaking no fewer than six hacksaw blades in the process, then walkng out with it the following morning. All to steal a moped to razz about on the local park until it ran out of fuel.

Hope it never turns up again. It'll save you having to argue the toss with the insurance, having to repair the damage that's been done to it while being hotwired and joyridden and from being fucked over a second time by the police for recovery and storage costs.

Exactly the reason I never quote any secondary security when I insure. Yes it's chained and disklocked to the hilt, but if I tell the insurers that then they'll want to know explicitly what's on it and then the one day one of those things isn't on it will be the one day it goes walkies. Never give insurers any wriggle-room.

I am lucky that I have a garage, 5 locks on the doors, plus I chain 3 bikes together blocking the exit for the other two, fit two disc locks to the ones nearest the doors then chain them all to the bike ramp.

I am of a mind that if someone wants to nick something bad enough then they will, but it will take them quite a while and they will make a lot of noise doing it.

im not far from selly oak and have heard a lot of bikes being stolen around the area.go weoley castle and woodgate and keep your eyes and ears open. ive been told by police that there some bike thieves from that area,off the record he said of course.i will keep my eyes open though if im around for it.
