My birds Fiat Uno is ticking over too slow, it even cut out today. When it's not accelerating it struggles to maintain the revs and the car vibrates etc. But when it's going it seems fine, but not %100.

So is this block jets or what? I was hoping a one shot Redex would sort it out (it did on my bike) or will I have have to mess with the air filters n' stuff? Thought maybe I should adjust the idle speed screw thing?

Help me, guys Very Happy

Yep, would be the easiest thing to do.

My friend had a Fiat Uno and the scrappers charged more than the car was worth to dispose of it!

Hi

Unos are OK. Go quite well for the engine size (well, they weigh nothing), especially the 1400 turbo one.

Which engine is it? Carbed or fuel injected?

All the best

Keith

Fully Integrated Robotised Engine.

Need to know really if it is fuel injected or carbed. What age is it?

Trying to remember how complex the fuel injection on that car is. Not even sure it has an idle valve. Think it is just a crude and cheap single point system.

All the best

Keith

Still don't know about the fuel injection but her uncle is a mechanic apparently and will look at it on Tuesday. If he doesn't know I'll find out about the fuel injection and bump this thread.

Thanks guys Thumbs Up Karma

What's the year? I've had the 1.0Fire (utter class engine for a 1000cc, pulls from nothing for such a small motor!), and a 1.4. Oh the shame Embarassed Laughing
I might have a haynes manual still knocking around if you want it as well.

Ah, i'd be surprised if it was FI then, I seem to remember it was a big thing on xr3is and the like if they were injected. My haynes only goes up to 87, but pm me if you want it - most of it's probably still relevant.

Hi

At that age it is pretty much on the cut off from carbs to EFI. From the start of 1993 petrol cars had to have cats, which pretty much ensured they needed fuel injection. The original date for this was mid 1992 but it got put off for 6 months for certain cars (ie, ones already built), so likely that most 1992 cars are injected.

The XR3i used a dodgy old Bosch K Jetronic system. Very crude. You would certainly gain power by dumping it and using a set of decent carbs.

All the best

Keith
