Anyone tried these 1s? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-UNIVERSAL-MOTORBIKE-BAR-END-REARVIEW-MIRRORS-7-8-PAIR-MOTORCYCLE-BIKE-/350827023835?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item51aeeb8ddb
Uber cheap, but does it show in quality? The mirrors on my fazer are useless, pointing in any direction they want and the left magnifies the image! Plus I'm sick of how wide they are, and not being able to properly reach them when riding haha.

I bought exactly that set of mirrors a few months back:
https://i.imgur.com/ljsDhnz.jpg

I'm only using the right-hand one & I've clamped the mirror onto the end of the bar rather than using the internal/expanding screw fitting as the inner hole on the renthal bar wasn't big enough.

What I've found sofar is;

- the screw & thread that is supposed to hold it onto the bar is made of cheese, it didn't get anywhere near taight enough to hold it on before it stripped the threads out of the mirror arm, as in picture I've replaced it with a longer m6 socket-cap bolt plus a nyloc nut underneath, keeps the arm in place up to ~75mph so far.

- The socket cap bolt that holds to mirror onto the arm is also suspect, it'll hold the mirror where I set it up to ~50mph, then the wind starts to deflect it outwards.. haven't made time to see if I can tighten it down in place yet without busting it though.

- It's pretty useful in the position in picture, I'd been riding that bike for nearly 18 months without mirrors because the standard mirror positions show me nothing but my shoulders / elbows, this one's slightly lower & wider so I can actually see a bit with it, although it's a very small mirror.

- There's not a lot of clearance between the mirror body & the throttle grip, I've reasonably large hands, Large size in gloves, and there's not much clearance for me wearing my winter gloves (oxford 2finger style), with my summer gloves (a* sp2) it's a bit better though.

Overall I think they're OK for the price, most of the riding I do is in town and I get better info looking over my shoulders but the RH side one is useful on motorways to check before I overtake?

Forgot : the glass has a slight blueish tint to it, which I kinda like as it cuts down on headlight glare a little.

Also, if you fit them with the bar-end adapters they'll make your bike 3/4 of an inch wider per side and you'd lose the bar-end weight if you have one?

Thanks that's a good reply. Would like to hear other experiences with them too.
I do have bar end weights which I don't mind losing/mounting over. And have small hands so the space shouldn't be an issue for me. I think things that are bolted the way these are can be easily sorted to make tighter. Just wondered how the standard fixings are for stability.
The width is fine as the standard mirrors are far wider than the bars anyway. Genuinely thing the fazers over all width is wider than my shadow!

Heh I like it now i've 'fixed' it Smile

should've said, with the supplied bolt holding it onto the bar tightened up as far as I dared to go without damage I could quite easily turn it round the bar with my fingers, or push it off the end.. using their bar-end mount you might have better luck though.

I love bar end mirrors.
Only ever used the ones that stick out from the bar though, not above or below them.
SO MUCH VISIBILITY. Almost no blind spot.

Lolwut?

The whole idea is that it doesn't make the bike any wider at all with this style of mirror. Hence the glass sits over the riders hand. Laughing

I think he was referring to the sticky outty ones, didn't your ones implode with the powa of the bandit? Laughing

Maybe I should have hit quote... Yes I was referring to the round 1s that hang off the end of the bar. Making the bars wider.

Karoshi, can you twist the mirror or do they just follow the bar angle?

Yes you can twist them. I had them for a bit but preferred these:

and cheaper: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Universal-Bar-End-Mirrors-Suzuki-Honda-Yamaha-Kawasaki-Aprilia-Ducati-BMW-Black-/310665639200?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item48551d7520

They're also very wide angle so you see behind both sides of the bike, even with just one. I had the mirror coming out the top, but you can have it poking out the side, making the bars wider though.

As Doovy says, they're good for positioning. The mirror to arm mount is a ball-joint so you can tilt them up/down/left/right by a fair way, and also you can rotate it around on itself - i.e. I have it pointing left over my hand for in town but I rotate it so it sticks out to the right when on the motorway.

I was originally looking for the bar-end type that Doovy just linked but my handlebars are already ~31" wide, was worried that adding another 2-3" either side for them would affect my ability to filter in towns Smile

I've had both types, the oberon style are nice because the cuved glass gives a very good all around view, you can see plenty with just one fitted. I think I probably preferred the long twizelly type though, personally I have them pointing directly down towards the bar for maximum narrowness.

You'd be surprised. It doesn't stick out much at all, it's very low down and your elbow probably sticks out further.

Picked up a set of the round 1s from a mate last night, had to find a spacer to stop it sitting against the throttle but got it on now. Shall test n see what I think. If I hate it I'll get a set of the over hand 1s.

Mine were awkward as fuck when using the throttle and then some cunt knocked my bike over and smashed the offside mirror. Two months later the other one was stolen. So, not a big fan!

I put a small spacer from an old kart bumper on mine which brings it just off the throttle so unless I stick my hand to the side I don't feel it. But seems you just have no luck with yours.

This..

I use the small round ones that stick out, they are ok when you set them but I got a habit of knocking them with my hand when I'm off the bike haha, forever having to set them in position again Very Happy

in each mirror, I have no real blind spot and I can see pretty much directly behind my self and if I look in my right hand mirror I can see what's behind me to the left after a certain distance which isn't that far (Not easy to explain!) and the same with the left obviously Razz
