Chains don't come off unless they are well and truly slack.

I can't help being cautious at most junctions...not saying poor obs, saying be more cautious Wink

Chain wasn't fine as it fell off, if it was correctly adjust and in good working order then it wouldn't fall off when you essentially slowed down, be a pretty bad design flaw in the bike and chain if it did.

Left tools at home? I hate it when I leave my chain splitter, riveting tool and a spare split link at home.

Did you ring Fisty offering oral services to be picked up?
Did you get Fisty to check your chain in return for oral services?

You need to get some lessons in bike maintenance and awareness riding.
You've lunched a CB125
You binned a CG125 on video as you weren't aware of your surroundings.
The video where you fly off up the road with the throttle pinned smashing through gears
And now this, your chain came off when you slowed to a stop, I've locked the rear wheel on my Ducati by changing down a gear too many, my chain has never fallen off, ever.

I suggest you give Fisty oral services for some lessons in maintenance and learning how to ride before you end up smashed to bits under a lorry and the chain comes off your bike again, that would be inconvenient to say the least.

Yup.

This is everyday stuff. If you ride around at 40mph near urban junctions, expecting people to see you and yield, you can get "But I had right of way!" put on your tombstone, it'll be a great comfort to your family.

I was going to leave that one out, then put it in, then took it out, it wasn't on the road and it is a 2 stroke.

Paddy, have you ever had a chain fall off when you've cobbled one back together with some leaves and a bit of plaster of Paris, put it back on the back and then decided to slow down?

Because I know when I've slowed down my chain has never come off, neither has FretGrinders chain, I just asked him.

Clains have tight spots and slack spots. Checking the chain in one position isn't enough. Get it on its centre stand, rotate the back wheel and see how much it tightens and slackens.

If it's slack enough to somehow come off in one position and it feels tight in another you need a new chain.

However, the chain coming off during an emergency stop suggests something more serious to me. Play in the frame, loose swing-arm bolt? I'm stuck for ideas really.

Off topic, but do you know what I want on my tombstone?
"Don't buy cheap black bags, it's a false economy"

You know the ones, they are like 30p cheaper then some good ones, and you think "ahhhh I will save myself 30p and get a blowjob from the toothless crystal meth prozzy on the way home"....then you get home somewhat satisfied with your purchases, you put the bin bag in the bin, you fill it with rubbish and you come to take it out, so you grab it and you pull out from the bin only to find the top unfilled section of bin bag separates from the scrotum of rubbish which then plops back into the bin, leaving you with a broken bag full of rubbish you can't tie up.

This means you've then got to condom your bin with a new bag, then upend the bin and poor the broken scrotum into the new sack, hoping it doesn't seep or spill out the new bag. You've now double bagged your rubbish and all I am saying is that the only time you should be double bagging is when you're in Thailand banging some whore that was probably a man, or is still a man with an extra hole, in which case you double bag with a tobacco sauce middle layer, like a lasagne condom think of it as an early warning sign as you will know when the first condom breaks.

Just don't buy cheap bin bags.

Hmmmm,

My chain came off the other day, although it was when I was putting a new chain on, was gutted though, if I had my tools, I could have done it at the road side.

It's 40mph limit on that road, riding at the limit most probably 35 with speedometer correction. Don't see what I was really doing wrong care to point it out (I didn't have time to slow down that much) ?

As I said before if I had been a truck that car would have been wiped out there was no way a truck would have stopped in time.

First time any idiot has actually pulled out on me like he did without slowing down or using the brake at all, anyone else on here would have had the same/similar reaction. My riding is not that bad; I'm not including the crap video. Or the 2 stroke incident where I was told to keep it in high revs save it cutting out.

Jonny; Yes I believe that was my mistake not checking the whole chain for loose spots. Also down to the fact that the last time I lubed the chain (weekend I believe it was before today) was with 10W40. However there has been rain for the last few days (chain screwed); new one has been ordered.

If it's lose enough to come off you should be able to get it back on by hooking it over a link at the top or bottom and turning the wheel/wheeling it backwards/forwards.

I think it would have to snap for him to lose it though.

Yeah I've done that before with the rear, using just the side stand before when it came off once before. However the front is there a way of getting that back on without the spanner/socket to undo the case Question

(Always best to learn from mistakes)
