Posted: 17:40 - 20 Dec 2013 Post subject: Anyone Know Any One Day Bike Insurers? |
 |
|
So i'm picking up my bandit soon and I need my brother to ride it home with me as a pillion, therefore I need to insure the bike for just one day, the day we bring it home.
Can anyone recommend a decent insurer that insures bikes for just one day?
Any links or numbers would be much appreciated |

If you cancel within 14 days they should not charge you more than the reasonable cost of setting up the policy, plus a pro-rata daily charge (i.e. 14/365s if you cancel after 14 days). There should be no administration or cancellation charges.
That's not to say that they won't, only that they shouldn't. Also, the Ombudsman has held that anything up to £50 is "reasonable" as set-up costs, which is hilarious when I've been offered policies for £57. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I know some of the 1 day insurance things closed down.
In the past I took out a policy on a bike I was looking to buy on a Friday night. Went to see bike, bike was knackered on test ride, didn't buy. Cancelled Monday morning.
Guessing it only got put through their main system Monday morning as for my 2 1/2 days of insurance I got everything but 1p refunded.
Most times it doesn't work out quite so well . |

Pay monthly are still 14 day cooling off type affairs, you usually trump up a larger payment as the 1st one. I pay monthly, never have paid a year in full, purely due to bike switching |

Guys, guys, I've just remembered that bikes sold via MCN get 7 days free insurance. It only costs £15, you can just bung that to the seller. You're welcome. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
