 |
|
Hi... I recently bought a second hand speedfight 2 50cc and it has a 70 ball kit in it and is fitted with a zx pipe... it seems to make too much noise compared to my mate's scooters (some of them have the same model) and it seems to not sound too healthy... I am planning to get the secondary gearing done on it soon... bu I want to get the other problem sorted first... can anyone think of what might be causing the shaking and noise? thanks

Erm. Well my scooter is louder than all my mates scooters. Reason: - Its got a race exhaust and A K&N filter...
Most 50cc scooters can keep up with me around town, remember, its only a 20cc difference (Which isnt very much)... If your mates have got new scooters, they will also be alot faster...
If its got a 70cc top end, then It will only perform as a 70cc if the carb has been set up for a 70cc...
The best person to ask would be
"divuk83"...
He has probably Tuned up more scooters than you have had Hot dinners.

another gearing kit would either:
sacrifice acceleration to get higher speeds
sacrifice top speed to get higher acceleration ____________________ DNA50 (sorry) ->> TZR125l >> GPZ500S |

yeh. Gearing up or down kills either 1 or the other...
If you was to gear up, You would loose your bottom end and uphill speed...
Personally I like the acceleration
Better for wheelies!
Anyway, it is pointless geting a 100cc gear kit because a 70cc kit would not have to power to pull it off...
You can buy malossi race gears for about £40 but personally I dont think it will make your acceleration poor...
Take a look at your roller weights, If they are light (between 4 and 7g) then try some slightly heavier rollers (about 9g) The heavier rollers give slightly less pull away but give a smoother stronger higher speed...
Its more of a trial and error thing tho...

About the restrictor. It took me and my mate Jim 2 hours to get it out of his ZX...
Its like a steel funnel welded into the manifold of the exhaust...
You have to get a old screwdriver of a chissel and a hammer and break the weld off, Then you need to get a drill bit (just the right size to fit in the hole of the funnel) and twist it until the dril bit grips the funnel, then Pull it out...
Much easier said than done!
Yea, You need to describe the noises its making too...

I used to get a grinding noise on mine. And it was because the engine side casing had been put back on and not lined up. It was sitting too low so the starter sprocket at the Variator end was rubbing on the top of the engine case. I ended up needing a New sprocket as it had no teeth left, and A new starter case cos it had a nice big slot missing out of the top of it...
Divuk, I was looking at your website! You have got too much money matey!
Your mate is brilliant on that SR125 (is it a 125, Seemed to pop up to easy for a 50)

The SR had a 172 kit on as well I think.
A standard 172 will just lift the front end on power, its great fun
Even better when you bung the engine in a Zip, they weigh fuck all! |
