ive just bought a used GT avalanche, that has hydraulic disks. this is the first bike i've ever ridden with disk brakes. Though it does have brilliant feel it simply lacks the outright stopping power my old saracen had (with V brakes and uprated decathlon own brand pads) is there much difference in pads for MTB as there are for motorcycles? what pads should i use? thanks folks.

what disc brakes are they ? when was the last fluid change and are they new pads ?

mountain bikes are very susceptible to pad contamination. if with the brake lever fully held in you can still move the wheel by hand you need new pads or a bleed
