As most of you know, I bought a Drift-HD for motorbike videoing malarkey. It turned out that not only did it have a duff battery but the fag-socket power-lead was duff too.

Action Cameras had the offending items sent to them on friday and I had brand-new replacement parts with me yesterday (monday). Email comms were also top-notch.

Just for your collective information and ting.

What I noticed about Drift Ghost battery is it can record for 3 hours if fully charged the same day, but when fully charged and unused for a few days the battery goes flat even when the Drift camera is switched off.

Should I ask for replacement too?

My drift cam stopped reading memory card, I emailed drift directly who replaced it with a retail boxed unit for me and let me keep my accessories Thumbs Up

While talking about action cameras, I got a Muvi HD 10. Videos been great, but sound starts getting scratchy and after mild use. Its a common fault and appears highly with this model on google. No idea how people do on returning them. Not tried to return it as I didn’t use it for ages when I got it. Cant even remember where I got it from to be honest.

Email them and ask if that's normal.

Drift are really good with support. Battery latch on my old HD170 snapped and they sent me a brand new HD 1080p model. I would like to buy a new Ghost one but they are far too expensive, I think I'll wait until the prices finally drop.

It's good to know that both ActionCameras and Drift are up with their customer service, I'll be buying a Ghost from there soon so this is reassuring.

Question, does anyone know of any 10% codes that actually currently work with them? Some of the vloggers I watch had codes but none seem to be working anymore, have they stopped them?

Good to know that both Action Cameras and Drift have good CS. Ordered a Drift Ghost this morning Mr. Green cant wait for it to turn up now lol. Bought their IOM TT pack, same price as usual camera pack but with free:

Handlebar mount
Suction cup mount
Extra battery

Quite pleased with that Thumbs Up

Crafty10 code works with them for 10% but you cant use it for the above pack or a few others....

Yeah I'm gonna order the TT pack when I get paid on Friday Smile

Didn't think it'd work with that deal though, still a good deal though.

There's a 10% discount until the 31st.
Or you can still use the Baron's code but not both together.
I just bought a Drift Ghost Cool

It's dropped in price quite a bit recently anyway, but they don't have many left as the new Ghost S is current - I don't see it offers that much more for about £100 extra.

In the general sense of action camera, for those on a budget, the excellent https://www.techmoan.com/ recommends the SVC200 (but good luck finding one) or the SJ1000 which can be had for under £60 delivered.

I got the SJ1000 and am fairly impressed with it thus far. Dull video here - bear in mind this is pretty challenging conditions, riding almost directly into bright low sun with a wet reflective road surface.

That's very similar to the Roadhawk quality wise.
A decent camera well suited to hopefully catch unfortunate incidents.

I've been considering the GoPro for more serious quality 'keeping material' and the option to talk to camera at times - but really all those complicated angle pieces and the sheer size of it in the essential case seem just too much on a bike.
The recent Drift models run GoPro close in most conditions and look far more suitable for helmet mounting.

The killer bonus with the Drift Ghost is that remote.
It has LEDs blinking which tell you what the camera is doing without trying to peer at it in the mirror or attempt to switch it on with gloves on - a major plus and obviously makes it far easier to switch on and off as required.
Also essentially waterproof with no extra case.
Drift now has a smartphone control/review app at least as good as GoPro's too

In short I think GoPro are over-hyped and over-priced to use mainly on a bike, even if they just have the edge in pic quality. (if the stupid case hasn't fogged up)

Thanks for posting that Roger. I think I'll buy myself that as a late Christmas present Very Happy

The go pro 3+ series cameras (current line) have built in wifi and you can use your phone to control them and change all the settings etc and works over 100 foot away...so much easier for composing angles etc. still £220 odd for the mid range model but works bloody well even with backlit subjects.

I'm considering buying a helmet camera too. GoPro seems to be really good but out of question as it cannot be neatly mounted on a helmet.

Is there anyone here who has experience with Contour and Drift? Is Drift Ghost-S worth twice the price of Contour Roam 2?

Main goal - recording for insurance purposes. The rest is less important. Does Contour rubbish low light performance defeat the purpose?

Although this is an old thread, another +1 for action cameras.co.uk, I also received top notch service from them, including some replacement mounts.

The contour seems quite good but apparently dust and damp can get under the front glass and you can easily wreck it trying to get to it (small screw seizes up)
The company has ceased trading too but that does mean the price is keen.

Basically you go for one of the cheapies and accept the limitations or spend more and hopefully get a more versatile camera you could enjoy using on days out and for other things too. The GoPro and Drift take quite decent stills at least 'good' phone quality - at the touch of a remote.

There's a glorified keyring cam called the Mobius is not bad at all about £60-70

Im on a drift ghost HD after having trouble with gopro. The ghost will do all of the stuff mentioned above re: wifi, and it comes with a remote control, waterproof out of the box (so no stupid leaky steaming up case) and has a rotating lens. Drift seem to care about their customers also.

You never seem to see anyone going from a drift to a GoPro do you? I hear quite a lot about disgruntled GoPro users switching to Drift cameras, but never the other way round :S

I bought a GoPro this time last year which I had to return as it kept locking up..Battery life was shocking too. So went for the Drift Ghost.

Did consider the Contour Roam2 but what put me off was the inability to change settings while out and about. All had to be set via the computer rather than being able to than settings on the camera. I like to change between video and stills so no good for me Sad
